as most of us I'm running business in my living room. therefore I do not want to show people my real phone number in the domain registration info, but anotherone.

Do you know if there is any free service forwarding phone calls and faxes to

a) email
b) to my cell phone?

it would be nice to be allowed to choose the number... f.eg. 123-456-MYCOMPANY (something j2.com f.eg. does not offer).

If you search this forum there are many threads discussing services similar to this (most of them focusing on 1-800 services).

Basically, you get an 1-800 number that gets forwarded to one of your phones (your home phone in this case). I believe that some of them offer a unique ring so you can tell that it's business and not friends. :D

I don't recall that information being required - if so, just put in a dummy '555' type number.
