I think this problem is haunting me!!

I just wanted to load RH7.2 for fun at home on my new computer

SuperMicro P4DC6+ with Dual Xeon 4's

It hangs while trying to load SCSI driver, aic7xxxx

I tried to boot with kernel option, 'noapic' and 'apic', to no avail...

Ran into this same problem with our VA Linux servers, but was able to get around this using the 'apic' option

Anyone else have this problem with the SuperMicro motherboard?

Thanks

Jay

Even though I am not much of a hardware guy, I have to help out one of our advertisers :D.

Have you checked out the Supermicro web site:

http://www.supermicro.com/TECHSUPPORT/FAQs/SCSI_FAQ.htm

There is apparently a SEEPROM you can download to resolve this problem.

Good luck...

Seriously though... What do you do with that much power?...

I have an 866@1.2ghz and yeah it kinda pisses me off when I have to wait 7 seconds for a filter to run but, comon....

haha, yeah fast cars, fast computers... must be trying to hide something!!

actually i bought the computer becuase I got a big 3d Animation job.. It paid for itself in one weekend with the time I saved...

Also, I thought it would be a good way to test it out as a platform for future servers at blackstar

Audiboy,
Believe it or not I had this exact problem. It hangs while trying to load the driver. Ya this problem sucks. When I installed 7.1 on my server it wouldnt go even with apic command but in 7.2 it worked fine. I have a bad memory but you are doing something like

boot: linux='noapic'

right?
