If I start web hosting business, investing $200,000 in it, how much should i expect to get from it in one year?

It all depends how you market it and which market you're in. It's just like buying a 100,000k car. If you don't take care of it, you won't go far. If you do, it'll last a long time. emasterb 03-17-2002, 11:03 PM but lets say i do good, what should i expect getting? say a number :) is just for a project I have to do. emasterb 03-17-2002, 11:05 PM also, whats a good price for a web hosting server? : danushman 03-18-2002, 12:48 AM If you market it right, you could potentialy make that back and some profit in your first year. But who knows, you could make millions or you could make zip... emasterb 03-18-2002, 12:50 AM thanks for the reply i was waiting for it the whole night :) 4solutions 03-18-2002, 01:05 AM It's a tough question... I mean you could invest $200,000 into any business and if you don't market it right, or if you make a mistake, you could end up losing everything. Just look at all the dot-com failures of the past couple of years. If you're serious about getting into web hosting, I would suggest buying a reseller account with one of the many reputable companies that you hear about here on WHT. That way you can get a feel for the business and with how you are going to market it. And you can let that $200,000 earn some interest for a month or two! ;) Best of Luck, Keith emasterb 03-18-2002, 01:18 AM I dont have $200,000 >_< I just wanted to know that, for an economics project im working on. 4solutions 03-18-2002, 01:20 AM  Okay, I re-read ALL your posts and just noticed that this was for a project... Sorry. I'd probably split the $200,000 with at least half of it going into marketing expenses. Then maybe show a slow, steady progression of customers being added every month. For example, if you charge an average of $15.00 a month for your hosting services, and if you add 100 customers per month (assuming no one gets unhappy and cancels) then after the first 12 months you would have received about $117,000 in gross income and you have spent about $200,000. (Of course, not taking into account monthly expenses like bandwidth). This would leave you with a net loss of $83,000 for your first year. I might also suggest that you use different assumptions. That is, assume that you will breakeven (get your $200,000 back) in 12, 18, and 24 months. Good luck with your project... sorry I misread the original posts. So I just made up the $200,000 amount?????? For my second post, I figured that was the ficticious amount that you were going to invest in your ficticious company for your project. Sorry I bothered to try to help you... it certainly won't happen in the future. terrastudios 03-18-2002, 12:19 PM LOL, i was thinking, s**t, $200,000 investment, that could get you some pretty amazing stuff Lol |
