I'm working in a project for my economics class. and I need to know, what I need to start a web hosting company. the investment needed to start and mantain the business, projected profit :/, legal requirements to start that kind of business and job descriptions and employee skills needed.
So far I just have 3 things on my list to start the business: servers, routers, and switches. I used 20 servers as a number of servers i want to use to start the company. Could anyone help me with this? :/

Thats gonna be a big project!
I would just start with a leased server, or COLO. Setting up your own data centre is not gonna be cheap!
tens of thousands!

Don't forget to include lawyer fees, because it sounds like the secretary is going to be suing for sexual harassment! :D

I would also include the cost of a building..
Also, maybe say something like 6 to 8 full time people. A combination of tech people and sales people. Guess at a yearly salary, and multiply it out..
as for the Leased Line, With 20 servers you would need a good amount of bandwidth, and you would need a redundant connect. Maybe say something like 4 T-3 lines, coming from multiple providers. A T-3 line can run upwards of 30k a month, from what I hear.?
These should give you some rough numbers to play with
Good Luck with the project

Well, if you have the needed skills you can start with $99/month with a Rackshack server.
What all this people writed its to create your own NOC, which its not needed just to start.
None of this its needed if you're just starting and you have the skills to manage a server.
