I posted this in another forum, but think that I would get a better answer here. Currently I am hosted with Tera-Byte, and I really like their lightning fast tech support, but it seems that they have problems with their servers a lot more than other hosts do. It seems like my site goes down every 2 weeks or so. (10-30 minutes usually, only once it went down for more than 10 hours) So I am debating whether or not to leave them for hostrocket.com because I heard on these forums and others that they are very reliable and they also answer tech support tickets very quickly. I also like the new layout of hostrocket.com's control panel plus a couple more features that host rocket offers. Do you guys think that this would be a good decision to leave tera-byte for hostrocket or not.
The plan that i am on with tera-byte is the 9.25 plan and I am looking at the 9.95 plan with hostrocket. The only major difference in these plans are that tera-byte offers 20gigs/month transfer and hostrocket offers 10.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Must be some problem on your server that needs sorting out because I have tried to get your site for 15 minutes and it will not load. What does support say. Steve AKA KEEG reads these messages and maybe he can look into the problem for you. How do you know how much you are down? I would run netmechanic every day for a while and then present the info to them if it supports the down time.
I am also hosted by them and while I haven't noticed any down time of sigificance the web.log hasn't recorded since July 7th and they are trying for a fix.

Well, that is a lil unusaul. I would email there support and find out why this is happening. And if it is something restricted to your server, can you be shifted to another one?
Another thing worth considering would be wether you need the extra 10gigs of transfer? The cost for bandwidth over the limit?

Hi,
I'm with both hosts. Id say it is very hard to choose between which is the better host but tera-byte just tip it for me. Both provide good support and good uptime. Tera-byte have had a few problems this month ..... I wasnt aware of this but i spoke to my partner who said they have been down a few times this month. But i can say since april this year it is the first time they have had any problems with uptime. All webhosts do have the odd problem now and then it can not be avoided but im sure steve and his team are working to prevent this happening again.

Good point. I've never used either service but they are highly recommended. Every host has bugs every now and then - sometimes not even their fault. I'm amazed some design clients of mine have put up with 'months' of trouble from hosts until thet gave up and moved over to me. An odd downtime or server issue is expected. The day someone invents a totally error free server that is ALWAYS connected to every point of the world that never takes a break and makes coffee for the tech guys, they'll be very rich people :)

Mr. Server? Hmmm, good idea. So long as it can froth milk, I'll invest my clams into it. Now, back to your regularly scheduled tangent...

*lol*
well you know when all said and done it would be quite possible to build something like that - of course hot fluid next to computer components is never a good idea. :)

Well there is something like this already. I remember reading about this facility which stores all of the most sensitive data on the web. The place is like Fort Knox and the environment is controlled and stuff like that. Anyone else know about it?
