View Full Version : Free Merchant Services???
Turboz 03-17-2002, 06:13 PM Hi
I've seen the Merchant services being talked about here, and I do like the look of 2checkout.com, but I'm basically skint for the mo and can't afford the $49 setup until my reselling generates some cash.
This is where the catch22 comes in, because for the reselling to generate cash, I need a merchant account!!
So, my big question is this:
Other than paypal (who are very good, but difficult to take money on your own web-site through), are there any company's that offer Merchant services with no setup fee's etc?
I know this is pushing it, but if anyone knows of any I'd be greatful for the knowledge
KDAWebServices 03-18-2002, 05:04 PM Owww come on, I don't mean to be harsh, but $49 is not a large amount of cash when it comes down to it really is it? Just don't go to the pub for a week or two. Borrow it from someone, don't eat for a week. It's only $49 - heck, go get a paper round for a couple of weeks.
Sorry I've not been more helpful, but you don't get anything for nothing in this game, and if you can't aoffrd $49 one off fee you really should consider if you're in the right game.
Micheal 03-18-2002, 05:18 PM There are a few out there, I don't have the name's right now, I have been drinking? but I can say don't worry about what KDAWebServices
says, Do what your WIFE SAYS!

You have no idea what I get paid, or what my financial situation is - I currently have £50 more per week going out, that I have coming in, so don't you dare say that it's not much and not to go to the pub for a week or 2.
I HAVEN'T BEEN OUT OF MY FLAT IN OVER 4 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going stark raving mad, and what do you do? - You give me an extra kick in the teeth when I'm already down.
The fact is, I asked for some advice - You could have chosen to keep your thoughts to yourself, but NOOOOoo, you had to make a public reply and humiliate me didn't you!
If you don't have a constructive comment to make, then please refrain from commenting.
izino 03-20-2002, 11:23 AM There are a few free merchants!
Paypal.com is the fastest and the easiest to get going.
Then there is iBill.com - it has been a long time since I have been there, I think they are still free. A bit tough to set-up, and something like 15% off the top.
Hope this helps.........
P.S. we have all been there, bills are almost always
more then our pay.
I'm not a guru or anything but if you need some marketing help,
I can show you ways to get your ads and name out there
with no cost. No banners, no search engine positioning or any of that other counter productive stuff. If you are interested just drop me a detailed email about what you are doing. I will have a look and make some recommendations. (Don't worry I don't have anything to sell) izino@hotpop.com

I think that paypal is your best bet. But if you can't afford the $49 setup fee then I think their might be a problem with you offering webhosting. I don't know your situation but you should have at least $200 on the side incase you can't pay your hosts bill.
Anyway:
Paypal.com is one of the best.
Chicken 03-20-2002, 10:29 PM I think what Karl was trying to say is that $50 isn't exactly a major amount. To start a business, you generally need quite a bit more than that. But OK, you don't have it, time to move on and solve your problem. I have a list somewhere of a bunch of these 3rd party processors. Not sure which have fees, which don't, which are good, which aren't, etc.
