View Full Version : CPanel
MastMnds 03-17-2002, 01:07 PM I did not know where to look for this but if someone could help me out I would appreciate it. Im trying to look for a cheap C-panel. , or something close to cpanel that is cheap. Im just getting dedicated server and I found out I need CPanel or Plesk. Well if someone could help me out. Thanks.
Also My Specs On My Server I might get.
1.9 Ghz Xp
3 Gig Of Ram
120 Gig Hard Drive
Or Should I get a Raq.

Chicken 03-17-2002, 04:06 PM Well, a RaQ isn't anything close to:
1.9 Ghz Xp
3 Gig Of Ram
120 Gig Hard Drive
-so either you really don't need this beast, or you don't know what you need?
p1net 03-17-2002, 04:12 PM Whoa...
That's a serious machine. What do you need all that power for?? Also I highly doubt that kind of spec is going to come cheap. How much are you expecting to pay??
BTW a RAQ4 only runs at 450mhz (k62 processor)
As chicken said
-so either you really don't need this beast, or you don't know what you need?
Best Regards,

ckpeter 03-17-2002, 04:57 PM If you can shell out that kind of money, why can't you afford a decent control panel?
You can search the archive of this forum to learn about which panel may be best for you.
Just a tip: Cpanel charges you monthly, while plesk only charges you onetime fee.

Sorry, I'm confused here. What do you mean that you "found out you need Cpanel or Plesk"? What does that mean? Why would you 'need' a control panel? And, assuming for some reason you did, why would it only be a choice of those two? It sounds like more information is needed to help you, because that's simply confusing. I can only assume you need a control panel, because it does tasks for you that you don't know how to do yourself, or because you want to run a web hosting business (I won't go on about that) and you want one for your clients? Or, do you mean that the place you'll have a dedicated server or collocate a server at, said they can install either of the two, or???? Sorry, I am just confused about this. As other's mentioned, the difference between the system specs you quoted and a RAQ are pretty drastic. My suggestion though, would be to never get a RAQ if you can afford anything better, and if you can't, maybe you do it shouldn't anyway. :-)
MastMnds 03-17-2002, 08:07 PM Well I was just wondering. Plus I'm getting this machine for web hosting. I know I did not explain enough about what i was doing but I was really tired and I just wanted to get some basic ideas. I can do everything without a Cpanel, but I want to make it really simple for the clients. For the response I got about if I can afford this machine but not Cpanel, just to clarify I can buy Cpanel. I just want to know which on is easier on the clients, Cpanel or Plesk. I heard some bad responses on Plesk, but I have never used it before. Hopefully this make sense. LOL. How much is plesk monthly. I know Cpanel is like 99 bucks a month. I like the response on my beastly machine. See what I'm going to do is turn the machine into reseller packages. Say 50 gigs and 1 gig of space and etc.....kinda like cyberwings. Plus I'm getting hook ups on everything. I have been thinking also if I should charge the reseller like .25 cents a domain or something.
Give me a response. What could I do to make you switch?

Well, I won't get into why, but if I give my opinion or any reason why you should (in my opinion and experience) use one control panel over another, it'll just create a big flame war and argument and cause a mess -- so out of most people here, I'm one of the few can't really be able to speak freely about that, so I won't suggest anything. I'm sorry if that sounds lame, but you don't want to see what would happen, no matter how diplomatic I am about the reasons. That sounds like a nice system you're getting, if you get that system you spec'ed out. My suggestion, I guess, no matter what, would be to not ask people, and try them, if you can and decide for yourself. I am personally very unhappy about one of those control panel's, but some people feel the opposite, and often for other reasons. Good luck!
