View Full Version : Auto Setup Script???
f5hosting.com 03-17-2002, 01:15 AM Does anyone have a WHM/Cpanel auto setup script for hosts, for when customers sign up? I had one, but something isnt right with it because it doesnt work anymore...I need something ASAP! Can any one help me out here?
Neo3Net 03-17-2002, 03:31 PM Checkout www.PHPMANAGER.com
Its incredibly cheap and hooks your client up with a nice Control Panel with Ticket and Billing Built in.
blacknight 03-18-2002, 06:20 PM PHPManager is excellent. It's easy to install and nice to work with.
HostingDirect 03-18-2002, 10:41 PM Allen,
Check out http://nixt.org/ , I use a version of this that I hacked up and it works great and it is free!

Nice price! Only problem is that you need Cpanel + WebHost Manager installed on your server.

blacknight,
I notice that you are fairly new by your post count and I do not mean to flame you but I am not sure why you posted your response as it has nothing to do with this post????
You might want to read Allen's question more closely.

I specifically answered a question where Allen was asking for a autosetup to support WHM/Cpanel.
If you did your homework you would also find that phpmanager which was mentioned in this post also requires WHM/cpanel in order to use the autosetup function.
Sorry to rant but your post really confused me.

Thanks for that man, looks sweet! :)
f5hosting.com 03-19-2002, 11:57 PM nixt.org looks nice, its free, but seems to be for a Raq...I need it to work with whm/cpanel. I downloaded it, set it up and went to the admin page and it wouldnt let me in. I would type in the username and password and it just kept bringing me to the admin page to enter the username and password again. Any suggestions?

Allen,
What gives you the indication that this is for a Raq? I can assure you that the nixt.org script works just fine on a WHM/Cpanel as I have it running on my WHM/Cpanel box. I did modify my scripts a bit but it works great.
This may sound dumb but I have to ask:) did you follow the process in the "README.TXT" file? I think it asks you to assign a password if you run the install script. As I recall the password is case sensitive.
Below is some of the install and requirements from the README.TXT file.
TEXT FROM THE README FILE:
=====================
It is recommended that you read the entire manual before proceeding with installation. However, if you are impatient, here is a simplified installation procedure:
- CHMOD config.php to 777.
- Create a MySQL database.
- Run install.php from the web.
- Move install.php to a folder where it can not be accessed from the web.
- Run admin.php from the web and configure your web hosting plans.
I. Requirements
In order to use this script, you must have:
- Cpanel + WebHost Manager
- PHP4 w/ MySQL Support
- MySQL
II. Installation
In order for PayPal account auto-creation to work, the password for admin.php must be stored locally. This password is then used to gain access to the encrypted WebHost Manager username and password.
With that said, this is the installation procedure:
- CHMOD config.php to 777. This is necessary in order for install.php to be able to write to the configuration file.
- Create a MySQL database. It can be named anything you want, and will contain pending account setup entries, web hosting plan information, and a list of accounts created by the system.
- Run install.php from the web. This program will ask you for PayPal, WebHost Manager, MySQL, and other important information. You will be able to change some of these options later from admin.php. If you would like to change other options, you must rerun install.php.
- Move install.php to a folder where it can not be accessed from the web. If this step is not taken, it is possible that a malicious hacker could gain access to your configuration information and reconfigure this script.
- Run admin.php from the web and configure your webhosting plans. The admin.php password is the one you selected during install.php.
If you are still having trouble I can try to install a 2nd instance on my server to see what it does. Let me know how it goes.

Yes, you can use http://nixt.org/ as a reseller, I tried in a reseller account and worked fine.
bgt-adm 04-22-2002, 06:04 AM I've tried to install this and cannot get it figured out, keeps getting premature end to script erros.....
Have 777 the config.php etc, but have no idea...anyone?
FocusOn718 04-22-2002, 10:41 AM Might want to try the beta of cpbill? http://www.cpbill.com
(I'd wait for NIXT 2.0 anyhowz)
bgt-adm 04-22-2002, 10:52 AM Thanks, but I sussed it quickly, was trying to do it through cgibin, what a plonker!!! Ive just spent days working with cgi and didn't think at all!!!
bgt-adm 04-24-2002, 02:08 PM Have now got NIXT onsite, but am puzzled by the Package String: what is it, how do I configure it, where can I find out how it works, there's not much info around....anyone?
FocusOn718 04-24-2002, 02:11 PM NIXT 1.0 is extremely beta and very old - The creator himself does not reccomend and highly discourages the use of this for any even close to production server.
FocusOn718 04-24-2002, 02:12 PM And I just went to the web site and he release new code - Without telling me? :(
I'll have a look at it later - And let you know if I have any problems.
dikucha 06-21-2002, 02:49 AM I tried whmManager 2rc1 from nixt.org and i can't not use the signup.php
The error message was "Please fill in all required fields"
All field alreade filled in but the result still the same.
Why ?
Can andrew or someone knows this problem contact me ?
Regards,
h2oski 06-21-2002, 09:11 AM If you are using the signup.html template that came with nixt.org you will notice that it does not have field1 field2 or field3 in the html form. however the signup.php script requires them.
If you are not going to use these additional fields then remove these three lines from signup.php
if ($field1 == "") { include("$basedir/template/missing_field.html"); exit; }
if ($field2 == "") { include("$basedir/template/missing_field.html"); exit; }
if ($field3 == "") { include("$basedir/template/missing_field.html"); exit; }
dikucha 06-21-2002, 10:00 AM Thanks h2oski,
Do you try the cpbill too ?
Do you know where i can find the full version of cpbill ?

Are you feeling ok? First he has more posts than you. Secondly he been registered longer than you. Thirdly he was simply stating that you need cpanel/whm cause he might of wanted to use it. But he can't if he has plesk or ensim.

Trust me.. It'd take awhile.. those passwords are long :P
It would prolly take 3 weeks to crack the pass on phpManger.zip :P
saltlakejohn 07-26-2002, 01:27 PM I bought phpmanager and didn't care for the interface (the 'me' and 'it' interface) at all. The other turnoff (admittedly a tiny and insignificant thing) was how many times I had locutus showing me his mean and threatening copyright notice. And that .zip password wasn't what I was used to. The tone -- the 'vibe' -- of the thing was negative.
Took me days of Googling to run across nixt.org. Clean and simple. Enough, and no more. Easy and pliable. No I don't always pick my setups based on their aura. But it's as good a way as any.
The Prohacker 07-26-2002, 01:40 PM I kinda doubt he wants the password posted here...
But since he updated the site, might not mater....
I kinda wanted to look at the source code for 1.1.1, but since he's changed how to download it again, I'm tired of emailing him for new passwords and crap... :D
blacknight 07-26-2002, 01:53 PM Posting the Zip password might not make Locutus too happy, but with their new authentification and encoding system you'd have a hard time installing an unlicensed copy.
As for the source code... most of it is still viewable.
saltlakejohn 07-26-2002, 01:58 PM You're joking I hope... It couldn't be the same password for everyone could it? That wouldn't even make sense.

saltlakejohn 07-28-2002, 08:01 AM Referring back to nixt's need for WHM access, that's just if you want to hit a key and have it create an account for you. Or if you plan on having it auto-create when triggered by PayPal's IPN Instant Payment Notification. Otherwise it serves as a simple little client tracker.
As for getting it to work, I had some days of fun there. I hacked away without much reason or forethought, certainly without jotting anything down for later reference (I didn't know it was going to be on the test).
I'll email Andrew at nixt.org and ask him to put up a demo, but I think he's dancing as fast as he can already.
Now for you guys trying to decide who has the most posts, do each one of those count as posts?
cahostnet 07-28-2002, 10:36 AM Sent him several emails but no reply. That's what you get with FREE service so I can't complain.

how can I install it on linux server. what is the use of mhash/mcrypt
cimshimy 08-01-2002, 12:18 AM Ok, I released a version (2.1) that eliminates the need for mhash. That should get rid of most of your errors.

fritz 08-03-2002, 02:37 AM Sorry for being a newbie here.
Aaron, one of the reseller hosts here, has been kind enough to set me up a start-up reselling biz. He's on vacation I think right now and I hope to find a way to do this now.
If I install whmManager, will it have a front web page for the clients? Or can I make one then just use the variables of whmManager?
By the way, Aaron has setup cPanel and WHM on my account. I really just don't know how to start. :)
Thank you folks!
hoster 08-03-2002, 08:31 AM Just a stupid question do we have to have cpanel/wh to use the Nix?
Rich :)
cahostnet 08-03-2002, 11:50 AM No.
hoster 08-03-2002, 11:55 AM thank you
fritz 08-04-2002, 01:39 AM To make my question short... can I use whmManager to customize my reseller page at the same time automate sign-ups?
cahostnet 08-04-2002, 09:22 AM whmManager is a billing software, it won't customize your page. It's intended to be used as a billing software and to automatically create your accounts in CPanel is you allow it.
Not sure if that answered your question or not.
JustinH 08-05-2002, 01:05 AM Honestly speaking from the point of view of having BOTH phpManager and whmManager, I'd take whmManager in an instant. First of all, phpManager does allow a client interface, which I didn't need, so take that into consideration.
What really made me choose whmManager is that Andrew's code is very professional written. It's simple, but VERY effective. I currently do not use auto-signup (I like human intervention when it comes to fraud ;)) but for a client tracking script it is very useful.
Little disclaimer: I realize phpManager is commercial, and very inexpensive (so I don't expect a lot), but... (I'm going to regret this) the code is probably the biggest mess I've ever seen. There are no tabs, spaces or anything to seperate structures, everything seems to be almost slapped together. Furthermore, the GUI is pretty ugly. But like I said it's cheap, and price-wise the best system available if you need a user-end billing panel :).
cahostnet 08-05-2002, 07:43 AM Well, I like whmmanager from what I've seen. Although I can't seem to get it to work on my servers. I sent an email to the developer but never heard anything back. Well it's FREE so I can't complain but that's what you get with FREE products so keep that in mind also.
I have some parts working but other things aren't work.
StevenG 08-05-2002, 09:01 AM :D LOL
CHMOD config.php to 777
Ya got to be kidding right? :)
cahostnet 08-05-2002, 09:10 AM You got it. I actually had to modify the config.php with my configuratiaon information and then upload it before it would work. It was configured for 777. I think it's best not to have that!!
StevenG 08-05-2002, 09:23 AM It was configured for 777. I think it's best not to have that!!
LOL...... no it's not :D
beashnet 08-05-2002, 10:28 AM The software looks great! I'm just wondering if you think it'd be easy to modify it to automatically setup accounts on a custom cp?
Of course it depends on what kind of commands the cp requires to setup accts, but I'm mainly curious in how much the script is geared towards WHM/Cpanel.
Thanks!
fritz 08-05-2002, 11:00 AM cahostnet,
so it's not really a client interface but more of a reseller interface for handling accounts.
comphosting,
actually i didn't put a check on the auto creation. beside, my customers are just friends and relatives. so i also hope to manually create them.
one quick question, it says on the manual of whmManager to look for the package string on WHM. i just saw one line of it. how do I create more packages for WHM? and later on use for whmManager?
thanks.
cahostnet 08-05-2002, 11:40 AM I don't get the Billing , Paypal and the 2Checkout section. Anyone knows why?
cimshimy 08-05-2002, 06:53 PM The paypal, billing, and 2checkout parts are all "modules." Set allow_modules to yes in config.php and run http://yoursite.com/whmmanager/modules/billing.php, paypal.php, and 2checkout.php. Afterwards you can set it back to "no."
You laugh at config.php being 777 - which is understandable - once configured, it could be changed to 755 or less without any trouble. The problem is that in a shared environment all the info in config.php is available anyway, which makes "tightening" up security by changing permissions somewhat of a moot point. Unless you're using Apache 2.0 with suexec, some php wrapper, or a restrictive safe mode, this will always be an issue.. no matter what software you're using.
cahostnet 08-05-2002, 09:10 PM Thanks I'll give that a shot. Do you know anything about this error? I have mhas and mcrypt compiled under php.

cahostnet 08-05-2002, 09:21 PM Also get The domain you specified could not be found. What does this mean?
JustinH 08-05-2002, 09:46 PM cahostnet -> You probably have an outdated version of MCrypt, you may want to upgrade that and it'll probably function just fine.
Yes you have to chomod config to 777, but only temporarily then set it back to 755. It only needs to write to the config file when installing the script, and loading modules. :p
cahostnet 08-05-2002, 09:52 PM I'll search for the latest MCrypt again. I did a search on Google and it took me to a site. Know where I can get the latest?
JustinH 08-05-2002, 09:57 PM http://mcrypt.hellug.gr/
You have to have 2.4.X or higher for the encryption to work (the system uses TripleDES).
I'm currently using 2.4 (I think) :).
cahostnet 08-05-2002, 09:59 PM Do you mean mcrypt or MCrypt? They are different. I'm using mcypt 2.6.2 , Mcypt 2.4.8.2 and using MCypt 0.92
hostchamp 08-07-2002, 08:21 AM When i try to add a client with the demo at nixt it says;
"The domain you specified could not be found."
How do i add a client manually then?
viv
cahostnet 08-07-2002, 08:29 AM I get the same thing. Anything that has to do with Domains do not work. Hmmm, wondering about this script now.
hostchamp 08-07-2002, 12:47 PM I thought may be domains coluld only be added when you filled up the sign up form like in case of php manager but then you can add clients manually as well, else why is the option for?
Are we going wrong somewhere or is it just the script?
May be we can get the deveoper at nixt to respond here, i do not recall his nick over here, do you?
Viv
cimshimy 08-07-2002, 01:47 PM Hmm... where are you going when attempting to add a client, and what are you entering in the fields? I just (at the demo) added one with a bunch of asdfs/random letters and it appeared to work.
hostchamp 08-08-2002, 02:47 AM Can u post the URL to the demo at nixt, i seem to have lost it.

hostchamp - I don't believe Andrew has a demo setup.
You guys keep mixing whmManager with the whmManager billing module. As far as I know the only way to add a client is to add it via signup.php. I'm thinking of making a quick mod to fix that though, as I need to add clients internally also. The "Add new invoice" is part of the billing module. In other words, you can't invoice a client that isn't already in the system (e.g. signed up via signup.php).
The billing module wasn't made for auto-recurring billing. It was setup to invoice clients EVERY month, and they enter their credit card details EVERY month.
whmManager is 99.9% a client managment program, an easy way to see how much your clients are paying, what plan they are on, send out welcome emails etc etc.
hostchamp 08-08-2002, 01:18 PM Where is the signup.php?
I do not use cpanel/whmmanager, can't i use this script for my billing purposes only? I would want to add clients manuallly as i already have lots of clients with me and would want to track their renewals and may be auto invoice them every year prior to their renewal date.
Nixt does have a demo setup, he posted a link here few days back but i am not able to locate the thread.
JustinH 08-09-2002, 01:57 AM Hmm... Yes you COULD use the billing system only but (a) you'd have to modify the code to add clients mannually (or use signup.php).
Second: The invoicing system is setup so that you invoice your clients EVERY month, and they re-enter their credit card details EVERY month.
I'm working on a mod to create customers directly in the admin interface and will post it on WHT once I'm done :).
JustinH 08-09-2002, 02:33 AM Okay... so now I feel like a total retard. The admin panel DOES have a way to add accounts, it's just in a weird spot (that I've been to dozens of times and never noticed).
To make it simple:
download the file, change the extension to .php and replace it with the current layout.php file and poof ;).
hostchamp 08-09-2002, 04:34 AM What changes have you made to this? I assume you have changed layout.php.
Also, i offer annual plans to my customer and till now do not accept credit card payments, i would want the script to mail out notices every year and i can apply the payment when a customer sends me the check/monies.
Do let me know if u think this is possible, also if you can post link to your installtion.
Magnet Eye 08-10-2002, 01:03 AM Anyone modify this script to work with HostCharge?
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
:D
JustinH 08-11-2002, 02:22 AM Sorry away on a trip :). I only modified one line so that the "add account" link is on the main page.
And you can integrate with hostcharge by setting up links after adding a pacakge. I didn't set it up for autosetup, since with all the fraud these days I'm not taking the chance.
bbi-linux 09-03-2002, 11:26 AM we get account creation failed when we try to add to WHM anybody else had this?

account creation failed, no whm output in email sent to admin.
and welcome email is still sent to customer, as if the account was created.
rc1 worked great, I have not had any luck with 2.1 or 2.2
I filled out a helpdesk ticket a while ago, If you have time to look at it I would really appreciate it Andrew :) :)
bbi-linux the headers already sent errors are from blank spaces at the bottom of functions.php there should only be 720 lines in it. remove any blank lines after the last ?>
saltlakejohn 09-04-2002, 12:53 AM The NiXT.org whmManager DEMO (found on page 3 of this thread).
A demo is up at http://nixt.org/demo/admin.php - password is demo.

It seems to me that I've had these errors before associated with extra line feeds or non-*nix CR/LF's at the end of a php file. Are the above referenced line #'s after the ending ?> question-brace?
As I recall it was because I edited something right quick in the cPanel Edit File feature and everytime it saves it adds an LF/CR at the end. Two or three edits and you have two or three extra lines at the end of the file. Doesn't happen with my external html editor.
Then again, I could be confused and thinking of some wholly unrelated error.
bbi-linux 09-04-2002, 03:56 AM thanks h2oski and saltlakejohn that fixed it.
Still no account creation though :(
A nice piece of software so we'll stick with it for now see if we can get it working, looks nicer than phpmanager, and the modules add into Nixt like a dream, a very nice pice of software
hostchamp 09-05-2002, 11:43 AM Cimshimy i do not use whmmanager but i would want to use nixt as my billing solution.
I offer annual plans to my customer and till now do not accept credit card payments, i would want the script to mail out notices every year and not every month and i can apply the payment when a customer sends me the check/monies.
Also i need to add customers manually, since i already have many customers, can i add back dated customers/purchases, i.e. someone who purchase webspace in dec2001 and ths system mails out notice in dec2002.
Can this be done with your script?
saltlakejohn 09-10-2002, 08:55 PM Well, it seems like this thread has become an ad hoc technical forum for whmManager. My thanks go to WHT for letting this stand for a while... I need help too, this time with questions about whmManager/2checkout integration.
I've installed the 2checkout module and signed up for their service because:
1. I read good things about them here in WHT
2. PayPal ( my first love ) has no 'closed loop' for testing the sales cycle like 2checkout's 'demo' option -- so how do I know without a doubt if it works right?
3. 2checkout can handle recurring e-checks as well as recurring bankcard transactions
Do I have to put my webhosting packages into a cart? or do I enter them as 'recurring' items? Do I have to collect the user's domain name myself, or can it be picked up as a variable ... something like 'option description' ... from 2checkout? And finally, can I meld signup.html codes into 2checkout's highly modifiable recurring order page they provide.
hostchamp 09-11-2002, 09:46 AM lol i must apologize to all and cimshimy esp., all this while posting on this thread i did not realize the name of the script was whmManager and kept referring to it as NIXT. :o
Actually i got confused with WHM, i understand WHM is an account creation tool/script which comes with CPANEL, i do not have cpanel and/or WHM, can i still pass on some command to my control panel WEBMIN for account creation? Anyone knows how to do this?
Cimshimy or anyone can u answer my query;
Also why is the username / passwod for when you add a user in whmmanager? Is it the unix login?
Does whmmanager has any client login too?
Can i add external links, say i want to add a PHPmyADMIN link which the client can access from within his whmmanager account?
Also i need to add customers manually, since i already have many customers, can i add back dated customers/purchases, i.e. someone who purchase webspace in dec2001 and ths system mails out notice in dec2002.
Can this be done with your script, i.e. back dated purchases or modify the setup and expiration dates?
I too have found the add new account link from within the admin panel, just that it is in a weird place.
hostchamp 09-11-2002, 09:52 AM this is a greta sciprt, but i cannot find the fields for "Start Date" and "End Date", this is of prime importance else how do i track renewals.
The problem is as stated earlier i need to enter my existing client in this database to manage my billing and keep track of renewals when they are due.
saltlakejohn 09-11-2002, 10:31 AM From the manual: "The NiXT whmManager is a script ... for use with the WebHost Manager software. It is designed to give webhosts an efficient gui-based system in which to administer their users."
NiXT is the simplest piece of software that ties a payment processor ( PayPal or 2checkout ) to the WHM account creation screen, thus automating account creation. It ties into the WHM account creation screen at http://hostdomain.com:2086/scripts/wwwacctform and fills in the blanks for you, effectively creating an account.
You have a Username and Password to login to WHM, a webhost's master control screen. In WHM you invent usernames and passwords for your customers so they can login to their own CPanel which is their website's master control.
There isn't any way for your customers to log into NiXT/whmManager because it doesn't have a customer interface. They can't access their account information or payment history there. It's just for webhosts. Like WHM is a control panel just for hosts.
When you add an account manually, you can state the expiration date. Invoicing is based on that date. Both of the supported payment processors, PayPal and 2checkout, perform reccurring bankcard charges automatically each month, quarter, or year. Both send this information back to NiXT/whmManager.
hostchamp 09-11-2002, 02:20 PM Consedering i do not have CPANEL / WHM this beautiful peice of code is of little use to me.:bawling:
Yes, you can add accounts with the admin panel, but i have customer already, i want to record a purchase made on
12-Dec-01 so that a rnewal notice could be mailed by 12-Dec-02, but this cannot be done.
In any case i have to fallback to phpmanger or other such script 'cos whmmanager doesn't seem to be a client billing/tacking script for webhosts who do not run WHM.
addvalue 10-14-2002, 11:20 PM At the signup.php, upon completion and click submit, the page turn out to be blank and the url still pointing at signup.php.
I check from the admin.php, the data is input is there.
Any idea, what is wrong?
