View Full Version : Site5 Like NO Other!
DiverseFlow 05-11-2005, 12:19 AM Hi guys, a few days ago i sold my small hosting company. After I had sold it, I realized I still had a few sites that would now need hosting.
After going in search of a cheap reseller package ( I just prefer reseller packages over shared ) I decided to check out site5.
Let me tell you, if you are looking for high class hosting at low class hosting prices .... Site5 is where you should be heading.
My experiences have so far been, after paying and waiting a little while to have my reseller account setup, I was ready to go. The first thing I do at a new host is check out the server specs as layed out by WHM.
I was very surprised to find QUAD 2.8GHz Processors, I immediately knew I had made the right choice. Not too long after I was uploading my 10MB+ MySQL database, at ANY other host the browser would time out, but to my surprise it was infact PHP that timed out, PHP doesn't usually get a chance to time out considering the browser tends to time out first.
Thanks to this, I was able to upload my 10 MB database in 3 blocks, usually I'd have to break a 10 MB database up into 10 - 15 blocks for it to upload properly.
I have also found everything is so fast, CPanel and WHM are faster than I have ever seen them.
Usually, after the first few hours at a new host I begin to regret my descision, but not at site5.
I would definately, HIGHLY reccomend Site5 to ANYONE looking for linux reseller hosting.
swflnetworks 05-11-2005, 12:28 AM Ok.. A few things I want to point out.
You said, "a few days ago i sold my small hosting company. After I had sold it, I realized I still had a few sites that would now need hosting."
A few days means 1-5.
Why would you review a site you've only been with 5 days?
Number 2: Is it so hard to link what sites you are hosting with them?
creativehook 05-11-2005, 12:30 AM Do they offer Windows too? I am looking to resell both platforms (Linux and Windows) under the same reseller package.
Thanks!
DiverseFlow 05-11-2005, 12:34 AM Why would you review a site you've only been with 5 days? The whole point of this review is that I have only just signed up, and already I am literally stunned at the unmatchable quality.
Is it so hard to link what sites you are hosting with them?Site's haven't fully propigated yet, cant post links to sites on other servers and say site5 is currently hosting them.
lisadragon 05-11-2005, 12:37 AM Go Site5.com for another happy customer. I hear many good things about them ^_^

It's best to wait til after being hosted with them for atleast 2 weeks. Otherwise you look like you're just trying to boost their reputation here with multiple reviews, which will start to make them look bad, and make you look worse.
Give it some time.. It's like a wedding of customer and host. As soon as that ring goes on the finger, it could be a totally different experience hiding under that mask. ;)
Not trying to be a butthole or anything. Just giving my observations, and some useful tips that may be of use for you in the future.
ldcdc 05-11-2005, 11:33 AM IMO all reviews have a value; it is up to the person doing the research to weigh things and assign the right importance to each review. For some people a one day review has zero value, for some even a one month review is pretty much worthless. It depends on each person's style and preference.
That said, I must thank you WinAxis for the enthusiastically well written review and I encourage you to come back and update us at a later time. :agree:

Actually I believe what your are seeing is Dual Xeon's with Hyperthreading. Each processor will appear as two processors in WHM when they have HT. So a dual Xeon with HT will appear as quad processors.

etechsupport2 05-13-2005, 09:09 AM We should invite WinAxis to post his further review after a month for the particular site.
I think within that period he will gain more experience, and his reply would be more rational as on today.
Meanwhile we should also review other's view about that site.
smoore 05-14-2005, 01:33 AM I'd like to add that I'm at my 3rd week with Site5, and has been very positive. My main website runs faster than it did in a low-end VPS, and support questions via e-mail have been answered within 15 minutes. No regrets so far, hopefully will stay that way!
DiverseFlow 05-14-2005, 01:38 AM and support questions via e-mail have been answered within 15 minutes. No regrets so far, hopefully will stay that way!Ahh yes, lovely support. My database didn't go up properly in the split sections, so i rared the whole 10 MB database, uploaded it to my web root, asked the site5 support team to unrar it and upload the database properly, it was done in under 30 mins!

Not received the email yet. I expect it atleast after a month.
DiverseFlow 05-14-2005, 06:05 AM What E-Mail?
Deusx 05-14-2005, 05:54 PM Well that is very nice to hear about, may i ask what package your on and also i agree Resellers are much nicer to use since you can split accounts onto seperate Cpanel Usernames and its a lot cleaner also Addon and parked domains aren't my fave. :D
BrandonSCSN 05-14-2005, 07:34 PM I decided this was irrelevent
DiverseFlow 05-15-2005, 04:39 AM I am on their RS-X Special at the moment, 4/60, loving it, well worth the money.

Ditto - amazing support as well.
buddhafinder 05-20-2005, 12:50 PM Personally, I'd give more weight to review from a reseller who did well enough to sell his company than a newbie who thinks a quick email means great service forever. A good mechanic knows more about a car in five minutes than a regular person knows it two weeks.
That said, I'd still love to hear about future experience.

Isn't that the whole idea of Site5's MultiSite plan?
From Site5 website
Divide your resources among an UNLIMITED number of FULLY FEATURED accounts!

I think Site5 is one of a few hosts (with reasonable price) that offer nice speedy server spec.
gwizz 06-08-2005, 07:11 PM If only they could offer their Superhosting features (RapidFlex, True MultiSite, NetAdmin4) to their resellers, that would really differentiate them from the competition.

I thought that they offered the same server spec to their resellers. so what's the spec for reseller?
gwizz 06-08-2005, 08:48 PM You might get the same server spec but you don't get their proprietary Superhosting features, you just get CPanel/WHM.

I just went to their website and here is the spec for non-reseller:
Dual Xeon 2.66GHz or Faster
At Least 2 GB DDR ECC RAM
here the reseller server:
Dual 2.8+ Xeons w/HT Technology
Minimum 2 GB SDRAM
So resellers server are likely to have faster cpu but for some reason the ram is not ECC.
The reseller page don't say about the features (RapidFlex, True MultiSite, NetAdmin4)....

that's too bad, i like their RapidReflex feature.
gwizz 06-08-2005, 09:11 PM I really like their RapidReflex feature too.
I've spoken to their sales for a considerable amount of time recently.
They confirmed RapidFlex, True MultiSite, NetAdmin4 isn't available to their resellers. However, my.site5 is available. But really, the only function my.site5 provides is to link to all the other features and support tickets. Since the other features are not available it's not really useful at the moment.
They did say that RapidFlex and NetAdmin4 may at some time in the future be available to resellers but never True MultiSite.
I also asked why they were selling 3gig hdd space/50gig transfer on their Superhosting Horsepower plan for $6.95/pm but as a reseller I pay $20p/m and get 4gig hdd space/50gig transfer (RS-X Special) and NO Superhosting features. They said they were going to revisit their reseller plans and make them a bit more attractive compared to their Superhosting retail plans.
So at the moment if a customer came to me and said sell me 12gig of space. I could buy a 13gig reseller plan for $45p/m and resell that to them at a higher cost or I could tell them they could buy directly from Site5 retail and get it for $16.95p/m which includes all the Superhosting features.
What I can't understand and they didn't seem to answer when I spoke to them was that they already have these Superhosting plans setup that do everything I'd want just they don't allow you to resell them. It's all setup and ready to go. For example, their $15.95 p/m Superhosting MultiSite plan gives 12gig space, 150gig transfer, Superhosting features including unlimited MultiSite accounts. This is perfect, multisite allows you to cut up your disk space and transfer like WHM does to sub-accounts. But they say no reselling of this plan yet they don't have any alternatives at all close?
I think they are currently shooting themselves in the foot.
I'm interested in product differentiation. H-Sphere does it, Site 5 does it. Will keep watching.
imagination 06-08-2005, 09:43 PM gwizz, thanks for sharing your finding. hope they will improve their reseller plans and features.

I'll have to patiently wait for the changes.
