Or you only have $399 but need 100 domains? dmaven 05-09-2005, 11:04 PM domainsarefree I think is the name. kenby 05-10-2005, 02:56 AM ok thanks your right Domainsarefree Register Domain 3.99$ but you can not register more than 1 Domain per week with one Credit Card and it's I want to register near by 2-3 Domain per week ! dmaven 05-10-2005, 08:06 AM all registrars pay 6.25 plus CC fees. If you are finding companies charging less they are losing money Masud 05-10-2005, 03:29 PM Dont forget to read the Terms and conditions of those companies who give away domains below $7 eSology 05-10-2005, 07:32 PM Originally posted by CSDesk Dont forget to read the Terms and conditions of those companies who give away domains below $7 Exactlly! I had to cancel a credit card because MyValueHost kept trying to renew domains I sold 8 months prior to the expiration date. dmaven 05-10-2005, 11:16 PM Originally posted by eSology Exactlly! It apparently was not that much of a "valuehost" WealthStream 05-11-2005, 01:17 AM Companies that have these super-cheap offers usually only give you the first year the the low price, then automatically rebill you some rediculously high rate a year later. They also charge you extra for things that should be included (like url forwarding), and make it very hard to cancel the rebilling process. It's generally a good idea to stay away from services like this, and pay ~$9 at a more reputable registrar. vEr5e 05-11-2005, 05:22 AM Originally posted by WealthStream Companies that have these super-cheap offers usually only give you the first year the the low price, then automatically rebill you some rediculously high rate a year later. But is it possible that you register your domain for the first year at a low price from any of the sites and 60days or more later, you get your domain transferred to somewhere else? In this case, you get the low price for the first year. Unless it is stated in their contract that you have to be with them for 2years or more, otherwise, is this workable? tonyx 05-11-2005, 06:42 AM you almost always end up paying more for any "ultra-value" services and goods than for regular value or even normal goods and services. if you take the time to read all the fine print, clicking and un-clicking the right check-boxes everywhere and canceling your credit cards if nothing else helps, then maybe the $3 you "save" is worth it... that is if you value your time and energy at less than that. ct_flame 05-11-2005, 03:21 PM I'm also looking for a place for cheap domain names... sonnyrizo 05-12-2005, 01:54 PM Are you guys saying domainarefree.com is an unreliable domain registrar out of experience? Their pricing is too tempting to ignore it. If there's an honest concern, I don't want to go with them, but if its only speculation.... Please let me know if I should lose my interest in them. 4solutions 05-12-2005, 02:52 PM dmaven, CSDesk and eSology are right. This is a promotion and the company is losing money on every domain name registration because they are hoping that they can talk you into hosting or other services. Use the search function here on WHT to check out company's like this. There have been several companies that have made similar offers in the past and the customers eventually found out that the domain was registered under the company's name and NOT the customers. Thus, the customer eventually lost the domain name when they tried to transfer it, because they (the customer) never really owned it in the first place. I don't know if this is what DomainsAreFree is doing. But how can they lose a minimum of $3.00 on every new domain name registration and stay in business, unless they make their money on some catch? Dr.Murdoc 05-12-2005, 03:21 PM All domain registrar / reseller selling domain under 6$ have renewal fees quite high, except for 1and1.com but they suck. Be warn. Dr ClayGucci 06-27-2005, 08:03 PM I was "Too Smart" to listen to the voices of reason in the thread. After hearing the name I ran out and registered a site with them.Minutes later I get an email stating: xxxx.com will be registered to your name for a period of 1 year. We will park the domain on our nameservers and point it to our default parked page, unless you ordered our business card page builder along with it (in which case you can modify your parked page). I'm thinking the worst, which means that you have to host it on their freepage area. If this is the case I'm disputing charges. Jeffreyw 06-27-2005, 09:48 PM Reputable cheap registrars: www.domainsite.com www.namecheap.com or Godaddy.com - but be careful and watchful while on registration process, you might click unwanted features and bill your card for it. ClayGucci 06-27-2005, 11:34 PM Yeah, again that top one sucks. Netfirms for 4.99 pr year has been good so far, I shouldn't have tried to "save a buck". |
