Looking for 3-5 people who could be interested in sharing a dedicated server.

I can not affford (individually) a dedicated server, so this approach.

You might say why not VPS. VPS - I am not sure that between how many parties they host one server. They might be overselling tomorrow if not today.

Not yet decided about machine, bandwidth, control panel or DC. Thinking once we have 3-5 people, we can take joint decision.

I am expecting every one in group will share equal resources and pitch in equal amount. I am hoping that I may need to put $25 ~ $50 per month.

Any suggestion about above approach? Is it practial? Anyone done it in past?

Pleas share. Thanks

It can be a good idea depending on how much resources each person uses. If one person pays $50 and uses 70% of resources, then the other people wont get their share. Its much easier for friends to do this (max 3 people).

Other then that its a good idea.

I presume Control Panel might be able to keep control on resources allocations. Please comment.

You are most likely better off with a VPS account. Let the VPS system dictate your resource useage. Splitting the bill three ways will just cause headaches in the long run. Just find a reputable VPS provider :)

Wrong Forum.
Should be in dedicated Server discussion not offers

This thread was originally opened in Dedicated discussion forum but WHT Police [Moderators] deleted this message and issued a generic warning, which I presume, meant that such message needs to come in dedicated Offers.

1.25 GB in $110 per month is not bad.

jpaul, i have tried to email and pm you, but the forum will not let me for some reason.

i am very interested in the same thing, starting for the month of june. i already have 2 other people lined up to do this (and can spend roughly $20-25 each monthly). im sure we can work something out, or if we can find one other person.

my email address is my username @ gmail.com, please let me know.

let me know asap, we could be able to work out a great deal so you get half of a great server at a good price. if not, we're going to sell a couple reseller accounts to fill the void we cannot afford (also great deals if you'd be interested). i'll let you know the specs if and when you get back to me.

Not sure why PM is not allowed. I think WHT is not allowing to new users to PMs.

Let us wait next ten days to see what response comes (say until 22nd May), then I will contact all respondents via email/PM whatever is allowed to take ball further.

Meanwhile, if anyone has suggestion/idea/preference about Machine, Bandwidth, potential DC and control panel, please share.

My email is jpaul_at_stones.com

Replace _at_ with @.

Thanks.

hey if anyone is interested in coming in on our server, here are the specs:

DELL Poweredge
P4 3.06 HT
1MB L2 Cache
1GB DDR-2 RAM
2 X 160GB SATA HDD
100Mbps Ports
2000GB BW
Cpanel/WHM

from sago. it's $189/month total with no setup.

we still need 1 or 2 people to come in on it (some people are still considering). we want to get it by the last week in may. let me know if anyone is interested << removed by request >>.

Thread cleaned.

jpaul the thread starter is offering members to share a server. He is not requesting server providers to post offers. That would make this an offers thread which is not allowed at WHT.

Sorry my mistake for making an offer in the wrong area forum, I was replying to a request.

I'm sorry this just doesn't seem reliable at all.
