View Full Version : Does domain name forwarding effect search engine listings?

I'm looking to get some domain name forwarding done.

.. but if I had a site like www.blahblah.com... and that auto-redirected to www.something.com/blahblah straight away... would google or any other search engine not like that.... and not list me as highly?

Is there something called domain masking? Would that make a difference to search engine listings?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

You are better off not forwarding. In my experience with forwarding the search engines will capture some pages as xxx.com/page.html and some as whatever.com/xxx/page.html They may not realize that it is the same site and you will not get the same PR ranking or credit for inbound links.

Forwarding may impact the ability to be spidered. Doing an A record is preferable
