Hi,

I am going to be building a shopping cart for my girlfriend’s website. It is mostly going to be bracelets. She will have several hundred of them. Zen Car and osCommerce seem to be the two best options. Anyone have any opinions between the two? I like all the add-ons osCommerce has, not sure if Zen cart has the extra features built by the community such as eBay listings and froogle listings.

Thank you in advance.

I's also like to suggest CubeCart (www.cubecart.com). After working with OSC and ZC, i finally settled for CC as its sooo much easier to setup and modify to suit your needs. Also it has a very friendly, and helpful community. :)

If i was you, I`d use Cube or x-cart. And I`d choose between those two.

I used cube cart for my old business. I didn't care for it much, it looks kind of ghetto and it seemed to confuse user's who tried to use paypal.

X-Cart is like $200! Not worth it when there are free options.

I was wondering can Zen Cart support Moneybrooker?

And I heard Zen Cart is easier to set up and configure than
OSCommerce..!! ;)

Hello TheDean,

We work with both osCommerce and Zen Cart. The advantage to Zen Cart is that it is easier to setup, configure and customize - as well as inherently possessing many items that are add-ons to osCommerce.

Having said this - osCommerce does have a larger community and more contributions available - like the eBay listing module.

I would take a look at the functionality you absolutely must have and then compare the base code of both applications - whichever one is closest to meeting your needs - go with it...

Upgrading and maintaining applications is the most difficult part - therefore staying as compliant to the core code as possible is something often overlooked, but ultimately very important...

Hope this helps..

Freeware never was and never will be better than shareware ;)
