Which forum do you like best and why? Ikonboard? VB? :confused:

Hmmm, burning board, but then with a lot of customising (standard grafix are just awfull). PHPBB 2 is nice too, but doesn't have a portal yet :(

Of couse, vbulletin is very nice with excellent support, but will burn a hole in your wallet.

Of the 2 asked about, I would vote for vBulletin.

If your wallet already has a hole in it... ;) the only other viable option to me is phpBB RC-3... (this script is HOT, and very customizable)

I recently read an article over at Sitepoint (interview with VB guys) sure does seem that vBulletin 3.0 will be a complete portal (or some form thereof)

I just bought the vBulletin one-year license the other day and going to put it up to replace burning board at www.dnforum.com soon. vBulletin definately wins over the amount of features, and a lot of other stuff like support.:)

Ikonboard 3 is currently the best forum board currently out there. IBF (http://www.ibforums.com/) will change that though when it is release.

Warp - you have used vbulletin before? I find that hard to beleive Ikonboard beating vBulletin.. Don't know much about ikonboard, though.

VB is the best out there

I'm personally aquainted with Ikonboard -- it sucks up server resources way out of proportion to its usefulness. A moderately popular forum can bog down unless it's pushed along by a power server. Users see connection interruptions.

I love phpBB because it's quick and it's efficient and a snap to install.

PhpBB started as a work-alike of vBulletin except phpBB is in open source code so it costs nothing and is modifiable. It can be customized and there are plenty of 'hacks' (code snippets) and mods out there to extend its functionality if you need to. PhpBB has a huge user-base and plenty of 'community' behind it.

The default phpBB has all the goodies I want, however I don't want a lot of frosting on my cake. Mostly, I like a solid piece of ware that I don't have to coddle and repair and nurse along. PhpBB makes me happy.
