I'm running phpAdsNew and it's been crashing on me. Seems as though there's too much traffic on my site. Now my question is, what's the best way to make this software scale for me? Should I have one central server as the mysql server and have an instance of the php scripts on each of my local web servers?

when you run a big site like that. The best thing to do is have a fast machine dedicated to your database and another machine as your webserver.

consider upgrading your hdd to a SCSI one, atleast the one that's handling the db's. That could boost performance quite a bit
