I'm looking to get a dedicated server soon(this isn't a request) and I've seen many different control panels offered with the servers. My main questions is what are the differences (advantages and disadvantages) of the control panels??

CPanel, Ensim, and Plesk are the ones I've seen, though I've also heard (not much) about HostGUI. Please post your thoughts here.

My personal opinions ( i've only used Cpanel & Ensim ) :

CPanel :

+ very easy to use
+ You can customize the design ( very nice for your own hosting company )
+ Reseller abilities included
+ It can install 3rd party scripts for your customers
- kinda expensive ( $99/month )

Ensim :

+ The cheapest ( if you compare with Cpanel & Plesk )
- Interface is not easy to use for starters, but after you've used it a few times it's gonna be better :)
- No reseller abilities ( or you can buy an quite expensive addon )

I think for a average customer, CPanel would be the best choice, because it's very easy to use.

Just my personal opinion :)

In our experience, most customers prefer CPanel over Ensim or Plesk, as it is very easy to use. That said, it is expensive, and I wouldn't exactly call it free of bugs.

If you can wait a bit before you get a new server, you might want to look into HostGUI(.com), and VirtualCP(.com).

I'm looking to get one around the beginning of may so that'll give me enough time to research all the panels available.....

Well if you need to get the new server right away, I would actually recommend going with CPanel, as both HostGUI and VirtualCP will include converters, meaning you'll be able to switch easily.

Ensim is fine really, but it's somewhat lacking. Plesk seems to have a few more features, but its interface is spartan and can be a little challanging for your average web site owner.

HostGUI.com in my opinion will rip apart Cpanel and Plesk. But as of now Cpanel is your best bet.

I am not too sure about that. It hasnt been released yet. There is just a lot of hype. I'd like to look at HostGUI when it finally gets released. VirtualCP has very good looking site but still no working demo of a control panel.
