Several threads discussing the domain name registrar Totalnic in the Sitepoint forum "Domain Names" have been locked this evening. In addition, Sitepoint's administrator posted the following message to the end of each thread:

This thread has been frozen due to a claim of defamation against SitePoint by Capital Networks (TotalNIC). We apologize for any inconvenience, we are doing our best to resolve the matter.

Just another sleazy underhanded move by everyone's favorite registrar.

They seem to have been removed now, whatever. I didn't see them, but you can see comments here: http://forum.icann.org/regxfer/

My own personal experience with them was less than satisfactory. You ask them something, they send a canned response and when you follow it, they send another canned response that they don't do it and you should do something else, which they don't do once you've done that (in regards to transferring domains from them). I would not ever think of using them again, nor would I recommend them to anyone, even people I don't like. I'm glad I only registered a few domains with them (not important ones) and shudder at the thought that I might have registered all my domains with them.

They are, by far, without a doubt, the *worst* registrar I've used, and far worse than NetSol (which seem to be better of late, just expensive).
