I didn't really notice when it started but Godaddy lists one price for their domain names but then add an Icann fee during checkout.

False Advertising?

Namecheap lists $8.88 per domain and that is what you pay at the checkout.

Thats right ive noticed that too, my last few domains have been registered with namecheap.
I also hate there annoying news letters which i cant seem to stop getting into my inbox.

This is old news. They did this around November when icann imposed the .25 fee as part of their new budget in 2005. Most registrars eat it, godaddy charges the fee in addition to the domain name cost

There is a little * next to the price to indicate a note about the .25 fee so I don't think false advertising applies. I guess I think of it like a sales tax (or fee). If memory serves, they ate it for a month or so and then charged it separately.

The "extra" fee is not impacting their sales since they have grown a great deal lately

I only buy domains from Godaddy when they have some "glitches" on their shopping cart.

Last month i bought 4 domains from Godaddy only cost 3.24$ each. And just this week i bought 1 for only 5.19$ each.
