Just curious if anyone using other server software besides Apache and IIS? Zeus Server I heard before but expensive. Any others that is great or fun?

Orc Webhosting 05-02-2005, 10:41 AM 4-5 years ago when I had some hosted accounts with XO they used Ashurbanipal (running on Solaris), it had a rather different philosophy than Apache or IIS, incorporating several functions into one. I think they skipped it sometime in the last years though, the biggest drawbacks were the missing DB and direct scripting support (PHP/ASP). Also their plans weren't exactly meant for dynamic sites even in Perl or other CGI because they had a low cap of CGI resources after which you had to buy extra units for a rather high price. Some of its features were cool OTOH and way ahead of the then-existing competition. |
