smartmlp 03-14-2002, 11:50 PM "giving away" what do you mean? LOL a free dedicated server.... am I missing something here? I must be hearing something else. (I wish I could have a free dedicated server)
CentiHost 03-14-2002, 11:50 PM Is this with like a banner on the site?
What's the $400 for in the title?
JamieT 03-14-2002, 11:55 PM Its really simple
There is no server fee just pay for bandwidth.
400 gigs on a dedicated server for $400.

sbrad 03-15-2002, 12:16 AM porcupine-
Not to butt in here (why, I would NEVER do that :)), but I think you missed the part about the server being thrown in. Use 400gb or more @ $1 per gig, and get a server with it.
It's all in the marketing.
Also, there's the part where you stepped in to HIS advertisement and screwed him. Read the rules.

drewnick 03-15-2002, 12:27 AM Who the heck cares what kind of bandwidth it is? Why do you guys have to bash every post. Let the CONSUMERS decide.
noster patronis emptor est.
JamieT 03-15-2002, 12:55 AM My goal isn't to be the cheapest guy on the block. Rackshack has that tied up. But if you want a quality server, a great connection and an admin available to you when your sites are down. Thats us.
JBIZ718 03-15-2002, 01:30 AM Actually Tier1 bandwidth costs alot more then that
Im not sure where people get this idea from but Tier 1 bandwidth starts alot higher then 300 / mb.
In large quantities it does come down as anything does, but Thats a good deal for tier 1
Joe
JamieT, heads up, it's a good offer. Don't worry about such individuals as Porcupine, he's doing wonders for his reputation among both buyers and competitors :cartman:
porcupine 03-15-2002, 01:48 AM Thanks ales, you shine like a star on such occasions too. I love how the few of you chime in whenever i say something that doesen't please you. As i've clearly stated, i misread his website, and he's modified the original post.
Im just wondering if those were cogent prices listed on the website.... If this is verio, or cogent bandwidth, because everything looks that way. Also, if its cogent and verio bandwidth, do these server get both? If it's true tier1 this is a decent deal.
Also, i have trouble with a data center that has gig-e from verio, but only 25 boxes on it (according to his site), has only 2 pages on the site, has his domain registered with a hotmail account, and has replaced all of his DNS information with 0's and 123's.
And when what he's offering switches midoffer, it just seems a little bit off, but as i said, my comment was on his webpage as i was under the impression that was using cogent, which i still can't verify.
Anyhow, i was willing to leave it at that after correcting myself, but hey, you know what they say, all publicity is good publicity, so at least we're keeping his thread at the top of the list, theres a silver lining to every cloud.

Removed price related comment

JamieT 03-15-2002, 01:58 AM Thanks for keeping the thread alive! Much appreciated.
porcupine 03-15-2002, 02:00 AM Quite welcome, i was kinda hoping you might answer those though heh. Thats the key to getting the most for your buck on WHT, start a contraversy.... Then again, the longer people dont answer the questions, the longer their thread stays up :D.
Hehe, i just noticed something else really wierd. Whats up with that 1800 number on your webpage, i looked it up (dont ask me why, i'm bored and you're fun), and i got "contact us about our offshore tax-haven company formation (www.offshore-tax-haven.com lol)".... never laughed so hard, are you somewhere in the carribean drinking pina-collada's?! hehehe :pimp:
JamieT 03-15-2002, 02:07 AM Wish you were here!
porcupine 03-15-2002, 02:14 AM Why do you continue to egg me on VIA email but not answer any of the questions?
Your hosting biz must be really doing well, living in an Apartment shows
your vey successful and obviously know everything about marketing.
...
-Jamie
You obviously don't know anything about marketing.
You really that desperate to keep your thread at the top? I must say you're taking full advantage. This is one marketting technique i have yet to see become a craze though.
*motions up to previous post* you gonna answer the simple questions i was asking, or just taunt me over the email and come on here calling me a bully of some sort?
JamieT 03-15-2002, 02:19 AM If your not a buyer the this thread doesn't apply to you. I don't come to your work and knock the fries out of your hands now do I?
When you can learn some professional courtesy I'd be more than happy to take you serious and answer your questions.
Until then, I don't have time for amateurs.
The people who have icq'd me I've taken care, answered their questions and they are very satisfied.
Have a good night,
Jamie
porcupine 03-15-2002, 02:33 AM This is the last time i'll reply. WHT is a open forum, if people have questions, or want to say something, if it's not against the rules, they're entitled to. And dont start whining that im disobeying the rules, because as far as im concerned, you sitting here calling me an amateur, making fun of where i live, sending out threatening emails, etc. is far worse then me posting <edit>Removed</edit>.
I can see that you're just using this as an opportunity to bump your thread (as you've indicated 2x already), but i think i made my point above.
I find it inspirational that customers sign up for someone who refuses to post information about their data center, and goes to great extent to hide their personal information. And my question still stands.
Please, don't send anymore threatening, or harassing/taunting emails my way, taunting/threatening people in emails then coming back on the forum and acting like a little angel is a very weak tactic.
I'll stop replying as you're just abusing that to bump your thread. I hope you get that verio gigabit link filled up fast Jamie, with only 25 boxes occupying it, a lot must be going to waste.
Chicken 03-15-2002, 02:48 AM Myles, commenting on the pricing of another offer (besides your own), unless in a postive way is not permitted on the forum. If you think it is too much, don't get a server there. I'd edit, "Asking people to pay over $300/mbit for cogent bandwidth wont fly around here", and maybe some other comments but 7 or 8 posts later this is what the thread is about. I don't care if he's selling cogent for $10,000/mbit. No negative comments from other providers about offers please.
While other hosts who are interested in offers or have questions about an offer are free to post their questions, it should, in no way, even the slightest bit, be construed as a negative comment. Please use PM/Email for those types of comments or questions.
porcupine 03-15-2002, 02:58 AM You're right Chicken. I shouldn't have posted that, and have removed it, my appologies, My original questions still stand though. If he can get people to sign up for this, kudos to him, it'll definatly be in the marketting.
JamieT 03-15-2002, 05:03 AM We are not looking to argue about our service with any other provider. We are simply offering a service that may or may not apply to you.
This post was intended to enlighten potential customers of our opportunity.
Thanks to all those who have expressed interest and we appreciate your business.

If your not a buyer the this thread doesn't apply to you. I don't come to your work and knock the fries out of your hands now do I?
When you can learn some professional courtesy
Err...?

x213Networks 03-16-2002, 05:24 PM If your not a buyer the this thread doesn't apply to you. I don't come to your work and knock the fries out of your hands now do I?
:D That is from the movie Down to Earth :D
Original Quote From Movie:
"Shut Up now before I squash you with my wallet......I don't come to your job and knock the squigie out of your hand"
Yea I am bored can't ya tell? :D
Anyway, porcupine is just trying to ask some questions. He made a mistake and apoligized so now he would like to ask a different question. I mean WHT is about busting peoples chops. LOL  Thats what we do here......but when we go to far we apoligize. So lets not make a big deal out of all this. Just answer porky's questions and get it over with. I learned from a first hand experience that the more you get mad and fustrated and don't answer the questions, the more people here will dig deaper for more garbage to throw on top.
Just my 2 cents :D
