If you upgrade it to 128MB and want to keep clients satisfied I'm guessing around 2 if both are using html. Any php/mysql or cgi/perl activity and I'd barely say 1.

I'm not sure how much Ram you actually have (as was said, 75 isn't right), but regardless, it could hold as many as it can until it can't. Far more than zero, but you can't really say 'five' or 'fifty'. It doesn't work that way. If all the sites on the server are static, then it could hold quite a few, but if they are dynamic (due to scripting), or utilize scripts somewhat moderately, then you aren't going to get many on there without problems.

As I said, 'many' could be any number, you just have to put some on *some* and see what happenes (and since it isn't the most powerful machine available, you don't want to put on sites that use too much scripting, etc.).

This depends completely on the web sites you are going to host. If they are just using static HTML pages, and only get little traffic, you'll be able to put up 20 or so sites with no performance problems at all. If on the other hand they are using database-driven backends and getting more than a couple of visitors, you won't want to host more than 1 or 2 sites on it.

But really, with the price of new hardware, why don't you build a new server?

Do you think that someone will host in this server?

Even free host use better server than you.

So, you better get a better server first.

Heck, I think its a better deal to score a RAQ or cheap-server out there for $99.00/month. Just think of it, if you want the bare essentials to run the server.

1. DSL/Cable Line: $39.99/month-$59.99/month
2. Two Static IPs: $7.00/month each
3. UPS system: $200
4. DSL/Cable Set up Fee: $50-$199

Your looking at anywhere from $46.99/month to $73.99/month or more. Plus, a possible start up of atleast $250.

Keep in mind, you get an average of 128k to 750k on these connections and if something goes wrong, your outta luck.

Just think, now you can get a server in a Data Center, with 300+ gigs of bandwidth, multiple connections, UPS systems, and more for all of $99/month.

Just my $0.02

I probably wouldn't even use that machine for a Linux router. :(

Unless you wanted to give it to me. :)
