I'm currently on XO for my companies hosting needs. The service has been increasingly slowing for the last serveral months. Not to mention numerous outages etc. I would like to have some of your recomendations for good hosts in the SoCal area. I don't have more than 100 megs of data to host but I would like to have some decent speed for the site.

Any suggestions?

What's your budget? I recommend Ventures Online. They offer excellent support at a reasonable price. :)

I used to be hosted under 9NetAve (currently xo), paid nearly $500 for the 100mb package, and left them due to their lack of customer support, not to mention their high prices as well.

Wish you luck in finding the right host for your company, gchapman. :)

If you feel the need for speed...

Ask your prospective host for a trial period. Perhaps they could put the proposed site up on one of their subdomains for you to play with before you make the decision to switch over. It's my experience that it is the only way to find out if they are as fast as they say they are.

Also, I wouldn't limit myself to SoCal if that is where your company is. If we ever do experience "the BIG one," and your company's phone lines are down, then it would be advantageous to be able to update your website and assure your customers that everything is okay.

Best of luck,

Keith
