What do most hosting companies use? Would Paypal and 2checkout be enough?

Paypal and 2checkout are good if you want to keep your costs low and have no monthly fees or commitments, but you should look into a merchant account that offers recurring billing.

Paypal offers recurring billing with the paypal subscriptions.

2checkout does offer recurring billing. You'll just have to setup the plan in their management section.

I think 2CO is the best for processing you Credit Cards. You might also wanna use moneybookers.com or chronopay.

Also you might want to look into Nochex.

Careful if you use 2Checkout recurring billing. Per a thread I started in the Ecommerce board, if you have a client with a recurring billing cycle, and they subsequently update or change their card information through 2CO, if they ever request a refund it will go to the *first* card used when creating the account, not the second card that was billed. 2CO says that this is a stated policy to *not* refund the card billed, but the initial card.

So if you go 2CO be sure to tell you customers to NOT update or change their card information on recurring billing. They would need to cancel their account with you, and then restart recurring billing with new card number.

Why did you buy a 2CO account? Setup fee is quite low if you go sign up from their website.
