I know, I know...my name is not in the write up, but I am only a contributing author (2 chapters), not one of the co-authors, but it is a first step :D. Make sure you buy the book and give it great reviews on Amazon and Barnes and Noble (or don't buy the book and give it great reviews), especially chapters 19 & 20.

I will be in HostHideout tonite signing autographs...please feel free to stop by :D.

Edit: Stupid non-compliant URL, If you want to get to the book, you can go to http://www.samspublishing.com/ and in the bottom left corner under New Releases click on Apache Administrator's Handbook.

I am already working on my own: A Network Administrator's Guide to Security (or some such thing like that). Prentice Hall picked it up, and it should be out by August...assuming I can meet my deadlines :D.

Sorry, I don't own the copyright on it ;). I think Rich is going to try to get some of the information online (as much as he can without irritating SAMS), so you probably want to keep an eye on the associated website: http://www.apacheadmin.com/

Actually, it is my third. It is my first book by a major publisher. The other two were through a minor publisher, and were more training oriented (JavaScript books):

(don't order them, I don't like the company that published them :)).

One problem I have with oreilly apache book is that it copied the manual instead of the author writing everything him self. The oreilly book also does not go into any detail. I hope the book you helped to publish is 700 pages long and actually explaining everything.

It is 600 pages long, and does help explain a lot :D. As far as a retread of the documentation. Rich, Daniel and I are part of the Apache Documentation Project (though I haven't been as involved as I would have liked to lately), so we are helping to write the documentation in our image -- which is probably reflected in the book.

Thanks for the kind words Joe. The Sybex book is good, but it is also 2+ years old. It does not address Apache 2.0, or the migration from Apache 1.3 to 2.0 at all. It could also be stronger on security issues, and provide more detail about some of the Apache core modules.

Again, Charles Aulds did a fantastic job, but I honestly think this book is better.

Congratulations! It must have taken a lot of hard work. Do you receive any royalties?

Nope :(, this was a flat rate project. But I still felt it was a great opportunity, and I really admire the work that Rich and Daniel do, so I could not pass it up.

I cannot write a book or anything because you need to describe all the little details and uh my whole book would be wrote in just a few paragraphs..
