Hi everybody,

How much do you need to pay to colocate your server? When you do so, you know that you have to pay for both space rental and bandwith usage. Even the cheapest colo will probably charge you about $50 per unit rackmount server and then about $2.5-$3.6 per GB/mo of traffic. Have you ever wanted to rent a 1/4 rack space (so that you can resell the rack space later, hey... 1/4 rack space can hold at least 10 rackmount servers!). Have you ever wanted to have about 1 Mbps bandwith to your servers? How much do you need to pay for this? At least about $600 for the bandwith and about $400 for the rack space.

I just found out a really good deal (will not metion it here, but you can find it in this forum easily) where the NOC offer a full rack space (41U) and 1 Mbps bandwith for only $595/mo (each 0.5 Mbps costs about $300/mo). Now, this might be the best "end of year deal" you can really get. 1 Mbps means about 300 GB of traffic/mo. And with 41U of rackspace, there is an option to sell the rackspace. The compnay also offer free unlimited IPs. Well not really unlimited since the total IPs in the world is only 256^4, but you can get as many as you need for free, no montly fee on IPs.

But I am afraid of losing money that fast ($600/mo). If you are afraid of spending money that much but you want to have a descent bandwith conencted to your server (not onyl 64kbps or so) and furhtermore you have a lot of servers to colocate but you don't really need 41U of space, then let's share the rack space, the bandwith, and the cost (of course). What do you thin? Let me know.....

cheers, always!
