Hi All,

I'm considering the purchase of the new Qube 3 at http://www.cobalt.com/products/qube/index.html

My goal is to use this appliance to host "hobby" and non profit sites on my enhanced DSL line which includes 5 static IPs. Nothing mission critical using DSL. A few light weight scripts but mostly pure HTML.

I would be gratefull for any first hand experiences with this appliance? It's not clear in the docs weather you can upgrade Perl, MySQL, or Php? Along with memory upgrades?

I remember early Models had issues with the CGI wrapper and using some scripts. Is this fixed? If you are a VAR for this device please also speek up.

Thanks

You would get more out of buying a RaQ than a Qube. Qube's are designed to be Intranet/Extranet servers. They are designed to be easily implemented into networks for general server usage. You would only be implementing one of about 15 different features it can do. Thus, it would be a better spend of money to get something that does what you need it to do. While the Qube can host websites, it's designed to be an enterprise-all-in-one server. It can be updated, like any Solaris machine (I believe it uses Solaris. It might use Red Hat).
