I wonder who first started using :: ? I notice it alot in new site designs. Eg
::Hosting Plans:: or
.::Hosting Plans::.
I wish I could trademark :: , I could be writing this from my boat in the Bahamas instead...:D

Well, :: 's are used in constructors for C++, maybe it came from there? :confused: :cool:
Regarding its use in site design, I know I've seen it at pixelbrick. As well, I could swear I read a post by Tranz a while ago making reference to its use. But since the search function isn't working right now at WHT, I can't check...:(

Iuse them myself at times. They just look good and add to a page in my opinon. As they're easy to use as plain html text they're great for adding something without increasing load time.

:: Lol..I use them a lot in my designs. It does add something to the page. It brings the look up to more of a high-tech look a little without adding anything to the overall size of the file.
If you look a the keyboard there are a great number of these that can be added.
Try experimenting with wingdings, there are a boat load of cools ones that can also be used with the same results.
My fiance knows when I have done a design without realy looking to hard. She says that the use os :: is kind of my signature when I do a design.
Oh well,
It's certainly a frugal alternative to KB-eating images...
Do you think I can register www.::.com ? :D

:: cant be registered, DAMN I tried..
I have an account where I can reg domains when I hear of them. So it would have taken me about 1min to reg the domain if I could.
Damn..
I suppose you could try www.coloncolon.com (which is available, BTW).
But then again, given the name, some people might get the wrong idea about what the site is all about...:crap:
