I have a little question for those who had experience with them,

- Have they ever screwed up a kernel on a system that they were working on (if it was their fault).
- Have they managed to solve technical issues beyond a simple understanding of a bug-fix list for a particular application

I have used them only once and that was install the SW-Soft SiteBuilder. I was having some major issues with it and they had me up and going in no time. There is alot of work arounds and their documentation and forums aren't much of help.

I don't know if this falls under question #2, but I thought I would add my experience :D

Alright then, are you suggesting someone else ???

I am not going to be on the cheap end of things, and I don't need constant management, I am more of looking for a few admin hours for setting up new boxes.

DJ,

I have used Acunett several times and have been extremely happy with them. They help me with new box setups as well.

More info here: http://www.acunett.com/management/

Thought I would share again ;)

we have hired Serverwizards a couple of times, and we do like their honesty.
FastServerManagment is another company to consider also.

As a former Server Wizards client, I have nothing but good things to say about these guys. They always seem to be around when you need them, and they handled every problem that I sent their way fast and effectively. I hope you get all your problems worked out.

I have had very good luck with www.cheetaweb.com who has always done a very good job and has done a good job at quite a few more advanced issues I have had in the past. I do not use them as monthly server management company buy by hour when I have a real problem.

I have never used Server Wizards or any of the others that advertise here on WHT though.

ServerWizards is pretty good. When you give them a lot to do, sometimes they forget a few things so you need to verify that everything has been completed. I'd definitely choose serverwizards above Rack911 any day.

Why serverwizards over rack911?

If you need just some contract administration on an as-needed basis, check out www.wemanageservers.com and www.ladylinux.com

I've used both Peter's (wemanageservers.com) and Francesca's (ladylinux.com) services and have nothing but praise for their expertise.

You can try searching for the reasons. This thread might shed some light though: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=380780&highlight=rack911

Meh, Im not sure this is worth probing in to... serverwizards have problems as well that I won't go into. I'll stick to doing my own work inhouse and providing services for others :)

Why would go through a third-party in the first place if you are offering the same type of services? Doesn't make much sense to me...

Who said /I/ was going through a 3rd party? Now you don't make any sense lol :)

You were talking about sticking to your own work in house and providing to others. Why would that even be a question with the services that you apparently provide? I don't understand why you made that statement unless you were just trying to get attention...

Sigh.

You said: "Why would go through a third-party in the first place if you are offering the same type of services? Doesn't make much sense to me..."

I do try to keep up to date with other companies services, not only what reviews they get on WHT and elsewhere, but if I can, also the actual level of service they provide, either by talking with them, observing work they perform, etc.

As for attention, that's something I'd rather leave for advertisements or word of mouth.

I think I've had enough of this and I'll butt out after this post. Up to you if you want to have the last say.

I'm throwing in my vote for Serverwizards.

I've had them do kernels and fix other unrelated issues, and I have nothing but praise for them. Always fast, damn good at what they do, and a great attitude. You certainly can't go wrong with those guys.
