Does anyone here use Aletia Hosting? I was thinking about using them because they look like they have a lot of great stuff to offer and for a good price....I would just like responses about your experience with them and if you think I should use them. If you think they are bad what do you use now and why is it good? Thanks for all of you help

Used them once for 2 weeks.
More down then up.
Waited 49 hours for support.
None on the one week-end.
I am using Aletia for my site. Unfortunately they overload some of their servers, but if you are lucky you won't have any problems (such as me). However, this is not a very professional move.
Also, Aletia's support started to lack recently. I will leave as soon as my annual account has run out!
Aletia has been great in the past, but now it seems that they go kind of down the hill...maybe it will get better again, but you never know! :(
Also check out Aletia's Forum (http://www.aletiaforum.com) for more information!
I agree with the two previous posters.
I had two sites on Aletia but cancelled after they had multiple server problems and no support responses. Emails were not answered for days. That is NOT what I consider a good host.
Since then, I moved to APHosting which is now Xism. Their rates are very competitive and I have been very pleased with their service since. Although they had some server problems, the only major problem for me was their NOC which controls the server that I am on. I understand that the length of the recent downtime for my server was NOC's availability to correct the situation. Please note that the server that I am on is from the APHosting days, not XISM.
I am planning on moving my site from my current APHosting server to a new XISM server in the very near future to give XISM the ability to correct these problems and not have them rely on NOC.
Andy (Synergy here) has been very helpful and really looks after his customers.
Oh, and I am not a paid XISM employee. Just a happy customer. :)

For what it's worth, here is my experience with Aletia.
I signed up with Aletia around February 5. I decided to go with the annual plan because $2 is still $2. My account was set up on time, I have no complaints in that department. The only mishap, and it is minor, is that I never received an email with my order number. Things went along swimmingly for one month. Granted I couldn't access my cpanel from work but I could at home, so that didn't bother me.
Around March 6, this fiasco with Movable Type occurred ( I think the thread title is "Aaarrgghh" over at their General Support Area). A file that was essential to the Movable Type scripts was suddenly gone, poof, vanished. That didn't really bother me either. What did bother me was the lack of communication from Aletia. I decided communication was important to me so I decided to leave Aletia and on March 7 sent in a request to have my account cancelled. I realized I'd have to pay for that one month since I missed the 30 day mark for the money back guarantee but that was fine...I read that it Aletia will refund me the rest of my money for the unused portions of the annual fee. Cool...whatever. March 8 I tried logging on to my site...couldn't. Tried viewing my page, couldn't. Okay, they've deactivated my account. However, I received no email from them stating so. Nor did I receive any email regarding how long it takes to process a refund and when I should expect it. Fine...I send in an email asking this question and another asking how to edit my domain registration info. The domain stuff was assigned to Ron and he did respond. I responded back and have yet to hear from him again...I think it's been 3 days..definitely more than a day. My other tickets have been assigned to Laura and she hasn't responded at all...no communication. I've even contacted 2checkout.com to see if they could help me. They responded a heck of a lot quicker than Aletia has. Basically, my stance is, how difficult is it to send an email stating "Hi, your account has been deactivated. The refund process takes about so much time and you should see your refund by this date."? I don't think that's unreasonable. Tomorrow makes it one week since my account has been cancelled. If I don't hear from Aletia by next Friday, I will have no choice but contact my credit card company. This whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth. Sad, really.
I personally have had no problems with aletia.
I have been with aletia for almost a year now.
If you know what your doing then your fine.
I will admit, the support has lacked recently, but it seems to be getting back on track.
They have a new support ticket system which seems to have made things better.
Regards to downtime, i havent suffered much. Bearing in mind that aleatis dont offer a guarantee for uptime everything is fine.
At the most the server i have been on has been down once a month.
Recently the server im on has been up for around 90 days - Not bad huh!
Control panel is fine, does its job, etc.
Overall a good company.

Sorry to hear about that escapade you had.
From what you describe, they did you no favors!
I would contact you CCC at once to have them do what needs to be done. Let the little guy think he got over on you and have the CCC deduct the one months service and pay them for the domain (unless you elected to not register one with the annual plan) have them chargeback the rest.... your hands are then clean and so is your concious. (not implying anything with this statement)
Best of Luck

Hi Snooky,
I've decided to give them another week before I contact my CCC. I've sent an email to their billing section stating so. Hopefully, things work out.
