At the moment I have only been updating my servers to cPanel STABLE, however after doing a bit of reading it seems that i will not be getting important bug fixes with the stable releases, and that i should be updating to 'release'. Which is the better option on an average cpanel server?

Stable is for use when you are paranoid and just don't want to update.
Release is just about the safest to run. :)

Yeah release is "usually" OK but I run release update on a small rather insignificant server first just to make sure it doesn't break anything before updating the rest.
I would never allow automatic updates, let the release come out for a few days and check the cpanel forum before updating in case some lemmings have stopped short of the cliff.
Paranoid - hell yes is there any other way? :stickout:

Over the last few years we had better luck with release....

We use Current actually. :)

Stable...I would not trust servers with anything but..unless you see a very significant bug/exploit fix released that is not yet on the Stable version, then stick with it.

We use release. Stable doesnt get updated often enough to incorporate important bug and security fixes.
On stable, your cpanel might be stable, but insecure. I think its best to run release.

Oh c'mon. Use EDGE. What's life without a little risk?
(Ok, maybe not. I currently use RELEASE.)

We use Release as well. I think that tends to be the general consensus

Release seems to be the most stable for us. It's more updated and in some cases works better than even the stable version of cPanel.

Stable. Better to be safe than sorry, when dealing with the well being of your customers' hosting accounts.

On most of our Cpanel servers, we use Release.

Another vote for release here, we have found that it is as reliable if not more so than stable.

Stable, unless some patch requires release. Then we go back to stable when the update is released.

Been using release for over a year without a problem here.
