What happens if .htaccess files are turn off on the RaQ 4 ?

Nothing actually. Clients sites might not work as expected - but what I mean if you are afraid you will screw up the Control Panel and leave it open to anybody, don't worry: the cp uses their own set of config files.

Just make sure you edit /etc/httpd/*.conf files.

So the folder with the .htaccess file in it would ignore the .htaccess file ????
