Many customers are on a yearly plan and pay with paypal. Some of those don't like to have the subscription there, I'd say about 2-3% of them cancel the subscription. This isn't a huge issue since they only pay once a year, but it's just added work since you have to create a new link for them to pay with or just tell them to paypal that fee.

I wanted to know what everyone here does, at this point I'm considering just leaving it alone and to do the extra work.

I usually let them remove the subscription, and just make sure they know when they cancel it, that they need to be sure to pay it manually. Of course, if they stop paying it completely, suspend it. :)

First of all: Actually it is not the customers cancelling the subscriptions most of the time but Paypal. If customers enter a new credit card Paypal cancels the subscription.

Note that you will have to recreate ALL Paypal subscription once every two years because when a credit card expires the subscription gets cancelled and if the customer changes the card on file your subscription gets cancelled, too. Actually that means that ALL subscriptions will get cancelled within a 2 year time frame so you will have to renew them or else you lose your business. Yes, it sucks incredibly much...

What I do is to wait until a payment is due. Then if it is not sent automatically I ask the customer to tell me whether he would like to set up a new subscription or to cancel the account. If they want to set up a new subscription I send them a link. Otherwise I cancel the account.
