View Full Version : Cancel ***** Server. Please help
Hello,
My problem is I have signed the contract with ***** for a dedicated server 3 months ago. At that time, I didn't know the horrible history about ***** before. During hosting with them many domains were dropped from the name server. and I wasted almost 15 days every month to contact them to fix the problem instead of do the creative things on my business. I'm tired now and want to move out from ***** but the contract I signed was 12 months and cannot cancel at anytime. I think I have two choices:
1. Change credit card number and transfer all domians that parking on the server to another host. Then leave without any contact to them.
2. Continue to host until contract expire.
I think I will go for first choice and what do you think? Does anyone have this problem before please suggest.

I think this would be a good idea, simply because they havent replied to any of your emails right? Or maybe you could give them a call, email them about you wanting to close your contract. Try contacting them by all the ways listed on there site. If all fails, you done have any other choice do you?
an iteresting thing about contract law, if the service in your contract is not the service your getting then the contract is reputiated by the person not holding up their end of the bargain therefore the contract is void. so if your contract is written in such a way that you can claim they didnt hold up their end just phone them tell them " due to the fact your not holding up to your end of the contract i consider this contract reputiated by you and therefore viod please cancel my service immediatly" you may have to write them a letter to that effect but either way your done. cancelling your card is not a way to go becuase you are commiting fraud by doing so.

Chicken 12-20-2000, 10:29 AM I agree with Steve. Just changing the number won't solve all your problems. It would be unfortuante to get caught up in a collection agency type situation due to *you* not honoring the contract. Be sure they *they* aren't honoring the contract and then take the appropriate steps.
kunal 12-20-2000, 10:32 AM I have to agree. I dint mean to recommend changing the credit card at all. I think thats what my post conveyed.
Thank you for your comments and suggestions. So I sent my cancelation to cancel.cithost.com this morning. And I just got the mail from them about my server was shut down and my account was canceled.

kunal 12-21-2000, 02:12 AM Wow.. cool.. glad things worked out :)
So where do you plan to go now?
I did a lot of research on this board to either resell or lease a server. I think Hostmatters.com is a great start and I already reserved a hosting package from them.

kunal 12-21-2000, 03:03 AM A Very good choice :) Best of Luck in your ventures :)
If C.I. Host is in default, why not make a claim to the credit card company to get your money back. I have never done this with services but I have done it for merchandise. Just because something is charged on a credit card doesn't mean the merchant is free and clear or that the sale is final. If you can point out to the credit card company where C.I. Host is in default, you stand a good chance of getting your money back. It is worth a try!
Thank you for your suggestion. I will try that. I just got an email from ***** that notify me about the credit card was declined. It seems that ***** tried their luck on my credit cards after my account was canceled. If I don't change the credit card number, I will waste time to contact them to get my money back. Very lucky to me that I change my credit card.
Jedito 04-28-2001, 10:42 PM I have similar problems with *****, they charge my credit card 3 times in 1 month, I call to Amex telling them that refuse to pay that. Gladly they don't charge me that amount.
I send near 10 email to ***** asking about this and they never answear me, Finally 1 day I try to enter to my server and see that is down.
So.. beware with *****.
XTStrike 04-29-2001, 11:15 AM may i ask, has anyone here ever had any luck with a ***** server?
people seem to be describing things to me that sound highly negative and exactly what i experienced.
I contacted them after they continued to charge my account after cancellation, they havent refunded me the money back ($99) from cancelling within the first month either!
I contacted the bank and they simply ticked a box saying "***** Suspended" i now need to send the bank the evidence of cancellation (e-mails etc...) and they go knocking on *****S door instead of me :-) - the bank has now given me the money back themselves, no more worries :-)

Jeff from serverhost.com (jkehe) said it was good
LOL I highly doubt that now
