NameCheap (http://www.namecheap.com) and DomainSite (http://www.domainsite.com) are two registrars that allow you to pay for domain names through PayPal.

I've used both of them and I would definitely say that they are both trustworthy, especially NameCheap. If you want a second opinion, try using the forum search to look for reviews on those registrars.

Registerfly.com also accept paypal. For hosting, there are plenty around that accept paypal, I would suggest look at the Shared Hosting Offers here.

It seem that nowadays everyone accept paypal..

Since when was Namecheap a registar?

Since when was NameCheap not a registrar? A domain name registrar is an organization that registers domain names with the domain name registry on behalf of the registrant. Despite the fact that they're a reseller for eNom, NameCheap still fits this description, which makes them a registrar (not an ICANN-accredited registrar, but a registrar nonetheless).

Yes, that's true when using the ICANN-specific terms. I was just using the generic term "registrar" (i.e., one who registers, which would include both resellers and ICANN-accredited registrars) without even mentioning the name ICANN. There's no real point in arguing about this, though, since the definition is ambiguous, and there are several references for each of the two definitions (and I'd be glad to provide them if anyone is obstinate enough to drag this on further... ). Besides, I think it was rather pointless for him to nitpick on my usage of the word "registrar" when I am far from the only one who has ever used the more generic definition of the term (a forum search for "Namecheap registrar" turns up nearly 500 results, and the same goes for "Registerfly registrar"), especially since that's not even what this thread is supposed to be about...

hmmm yeah thanks for answering my question, they are not a Registar.

Here is a def of a "Registar"

A registrar is a place to register domain names. These types of companies specialize in registering domain names with ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers).

With that being said... NameCheap regs through ENOM

No, here is a definition of "registrar":
an official recorder or keeper of records
http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?registrar

Hmm, I don't see any mention of ICANN in that definition. Until the day when I can look up "registrar" in the dictionary and see ICANN mentioned in the definition, I (and many others) will continue to use that term in two ways in reference to domain names: the ICANN-specific definition (i.e., an ICANN-accredited registrar) and the generic definition (i.e., an organization that one can register domain names through, which includes both ICANN-accredited registrars and resellers).

Now, in case you missed it last time:
that's not even what this thread is supposed to be about
Let's get back on topic, please.

Krang,

I am just stating the facts don't want to give out false info in the Domain Industry

ie.. NameCheap and DomainSite are two registrars that allow you to pay for domain names through PayPal.

With that being said "NAMECHEAP" is not a Registar easy as that. Just accept the fact.

I guess I should of said "Domain Registar" since we were on the topic thought you would understand, guess I should know better from now on.

For your knowledge look below

http://alpineweb.com/dns/registrar_transfer_faq.html

What is a domain name registrar?
A domain name registrar is the organization or company responsible for providing domain name registration services to the public. A domain name registrar is either authorized by ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, an organization dedicated to Internet governance) to provide registration services for the .com, .net and .org global top-level domain names, or is authorized by its respective government to register domain names within a specific ccTLD (country code Top Level Domain name extension). CIRA provides this function in Canada. A registrar must also be authorized by the registry of a Top Level Domain to act as an agent of the registry to process domain name registrations, where the agent is not a reseller . The registrar is also responsible for creating and maintaining a WHOIS database for its customers.

frattay22, please explain to me why you're trolling about the usage of the term "registrar" in a thread about PayPal. Despite your insulting comment, "domain registrar" and "registrar" mean the same thing, and both can be used in both of the ways I mentioned in my last post. Since you're so obstinate and can't just drop it, here are some more references for you:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Registrar
On the Internet, a registrar is a service that sells and manages domain names.

http://www.no-ip.com/geekterms.php
A Registrar is the company or organization that you purchased or registered your Domain Name through.

http://www.cdt.org/dns/glossary.shtml
A company which acts as an interface between domain-name holders and the registry, providing registration and value-added services

http://www.webhostingrank.com/glossary/Registrar.html
Some registries don't provide the ability for end users to register domains with them directly. They might require end users to purchase the domain through an internet provider that is acting as the registrar.

http://www.nwanpc.org/faq.html#registrar
The organization responsible for the actual registration of a domain name is known as the registrar. The registrar keeps track of domain ownership, administrative contacts, technical contacts, DNS names and numbers, etc. Any change to any of the information associated with a domain name must be done at the current registrar of that domain.

http://www.disputes.org/decisions/0150.htm
The Rules define Registrar as "the entity with which the Respondent [i.e., the holder of a domain-name registration against which a complaint is initiated] has registered a domain name that is the subject of a complaint."

http://www.covad.com/onlinesupportcenter/faqs/dns/#03
A Registrar facilitates the process of purchasing new domain names across the Internet.

Notice that none of these mention ICANN in any way. Now please take note: I never said your definition was wrong. I'm only saying that "registrar" is an ambiguous term that can mean either an ICANN-accredited registrar or an organization that one can register domain names through (which includes both ICANN-accredited registrars and resellers).

This is the last time I'm going to mention that this thread is supposed to be about PayPal, not the definition of "registrar." I have already alerted the moderators about your trolling and off-topic posts, so I suggest you stop posting here unless you would like to discuss buying domain names using PayPal.
