View Full Version : So, bottom line, with 63-150 GB needed: What should I do?

First I just want to thank everyone for being so helpful here. This is by far the best board I've been to and the length at which everyone has gone to help me is incredible. Thanks.

Now I'm at the crossroads and looking at what to do. I know I need at least 63 GB per month of bandwith with only like about 50 MB of storage space. Since my site is going to (hopefully) expand, I'll probably want over 100 GB if possible, just so I do have that room to grow.

If you were me, what would you do? I've looked into dedicated servers, but I've even seen some dedicated ones that only give you 20 GB or bandwith or whatever for like $500 a month. That's crazy.

Are there any virtual hosts or *anything* I can do at this point or have I just grown too big for my own good?

Again, all help is greatly, greatly appreciated.

I would recommend going dedicated - If your site is mainly graphics and html go with tera-bytes $99 a month dedictaed server plan but upgrade the ram.

Just an option.

Just out of interest have you optimised all of your images? Even a couple of K here and there can make a big dint in your monthly transfer along with optimising the HTML (Use HTML shrinker). Doesn't solve your server problem but it might make it easier to find a host.

I also recommend tera-byte's plan.

yep i recommend the same 4webspace/tera-byte's plan :)

also get yourself a copy of Ulead's SmartSaver PRO http://www.webutilities.com and http://www.irfanview.com and optimise your images :)

i just optimised 15MB of images into 3.5MB :D

Note that I'd bump the ram up from 32 on that special ($99 isn't quite the total picture if you leave this out). Good news is that it is a one time fee, but one that you should invest in.
