Hi
I maybe wanting to setup a forum for my website on a RaQ 4 Server and need some info.
The host company said I can basic run any forum script as long as it not running persistantly or using too many resources
So here are the forums I am think of:
XMB Forum or VBulletin - Lite. Do either of these running persistanly or do they us a lot of resources ?
Any help please
Thanks
Garry :)
Hi Cool (Am I correct in thinking you go under that name?)
They don't running persistently, but can make about 15 MySQL queries per page. The amount of resources used all depends on how popular the forum is. Ask your hosting company if the forums you mention are OK.

You might also look into phpBB. Same issues as mentioned above.

I run phpBB2 On my one of my Raq4's, no problems at all over 2000 posts and 147 members. I watch the cpu load using the "top" command and they've never took the cpu past a reasonabe amount

We've got vBulletin (full version) running on a raq3, over 200 members and quite a bunch of posts. Also a lightly used php chat script and a php based art gallery. All together good for over 100,000 page views.
Oh, and a second domain running vBulletin, but that one has become somewhat desolate :D
Think we can grow a few times bigger before we see our server do some real work

It runs great most of the time. When I get about 50 users online the server loads goes to about 7.5
