Hi

Is it a good idea to set up a forum for a hosting/web design company for customer to view and add etc.... ?

Thanks
Gary

Probably a good idea - at least if you are large enough (with only 1 post per week some customers will frightened away) and
most of your customers are happy. If they are not happy... well... :)

It can be a good thing, and it can be a bad thing. Forums need traffic in order to be useful. They also need to be moderated, and as site5 does, you may not want to let support issues be posted to the forum, unless you are willing to air support issues and watch the forum and quickly respond to issues.

We are going to have forums once we have a decent amount of users, but at the moment I don't see the point in it.

Would be good though cause so far nearly all of our support questions have been how to's so they could discuss amongst themselves if we had a forum.

But as I said it needs traffic and 50 odd low maintenance customers wouldn;t use it that much.

Good idea (copyed of someone else can;t remember who) is to offer incentives for ppl posting i.e a free month to the most helpful person in the forum or something a month.
