I made a withdrawal of more than $1300 on the 08 April 05 from my PayPal balance to my bank account in Singapore. The status shown on PayPal for the transaction is "Completed". However, till today, I checked with my bank and they claimed that they did not receive any transfer from PayPal at all. I have emailed PayPal several times, but they simply do not reply. Can anyone advise me on what I should do next? Can I take any legal action against them, although I'm not a US Citizen?

Was this the first time you transferred to the Singapore bank account from PayPal?

Also, realize that when money is transferred from one country to another that it can take quite some time. To give you an idea of what can happen there is a scam were someone in the U.S. sells something expensive to someone with a check drawn on a bank in Europe.

Of course the seller is usually smart enough to wait until the check clears the bank before releasing the item, which the scam artist immediately agrees to.

The reason the scam artist is so willing to agree to the sellers terms is that he knows that the U.S. bank will tell the seller that the check has cleared the U.S. bank, but feels safe in knowing that it can take weeks before the bank in Europe notifies the U.S. bank that the check is no good. When that happens the money is immediately taken from the seller's account.

The point is that although your PayPal bank shows that it has cleared it has not reached your bank. In the future before transferring large sums of money do a test run with a small sum of money. I'd talk to the bank manager and ask them from their experience how long does it take to transfer money from the U.S.. I seriously doubt that it is instant.

Hi,

It takes 10days+ for money avilable from paypal to Hong Kong.

And, it only takes 3~4days for money available from paypal to Taiwan.

Mainly, is the bank system problem.................

Thank you for all the replies. This is the first time I'm doing this, that's why I'm quite worried. I will wait a while longer and hopefully the transaction can go through smoothly.

I was just wondering whether there is any problem with the ordering of first name and last name while we request for withdrawal from paypal. Let's say my actual name is Tan Ah Kow so my bank account in Singapore will be that, if I specify Tan as last name and Ah Kow as first name, will I have problem to made withdrawal to my local bank?

Thanks for the quick reply. I have actually contacted Paypal through email but they reply me with the instructions on how to change my first and last name but that's not what I am looking for.

I was interested to know whether I could still use my surname as last name for withdrawal so I was looking for someone here in the same situation and had withdrawn money from paypal to a Singapore bank.

dou you get your money ? if yes how many days later? Is it legal to hold someone money more than 72hours?
PayPal is not selling goods, paypal is transferring someone money to antoher one and they are due to global electronic fund transfer policy which they are not able to hold delay someone money more than 72hours upon transfer or withdraw requests. Regardless TOS and AUP noone that offers fund transfer is not able to hold your money more than 72hours, even if there is a fraud risk then they had to first transfer within 72hours if they cant approve the fraud and then they might continue their fraud investigations as long as they want to do..
My knowledge is as this regarding fund transfer services policy but i am not sure if PayPal sees itself all over the legal rules. I have a same situation my 1200Euro have been not assigned to our bank account now more than 12days and i have abused due to delaying on my own paymnets .. who found that name paypalsucks.com well done.
