I don't know if this belongs here or in the Lounge...
A mediocre day (a hosting company life's guide for newbies):
This morning, we receive a complaint email; some unknown guy complaining that one of our clients is making slanderous comments about him on some newsgroup, and that's forbidden by our TOS, etc. Duh?
Later on, I am asked to listen to a very nice voicemail msg: "You suck, I have found a much better hosting company, you suck, I have called my bank to cancel my payment, your service is the worst ever".
The guy left a phone number so I call him back and ask what the problem is. His answer: "The problem is that you suck and your control panel sucks".
After a few mns I manage to get him to elaborate. Apparently he has uploaded a file called 'hissitenamehomepage.html' and for some "unknown" reason this page isn't displayed automatically when he goes to his URL. I point out that there's naming conventions and that he must provide a default page, but he's not interested. We really suck, fortunately he'll be much happier somewhere else. We hang up, no hard feelings here: I think he's a moron but I've been very polite, he thinks I suck but I don't care.
A couple hours later I receive a very nice email from some guy who tells us he wants to end his hosting contract, but my problem is that we looked and looked and looked but he is NOT hosted with us. Oh, well...
:D
