Well, I have signed with hostrocket some time ago. I liked the service, it was ok, except by the downtime. 2 or 3 times a week the site was offline, or the emails do not worked. but that is ok

I have indicated HR to a lot of people, maybe 5-6 signed-up with them. People here in Brazil, mostly.

Well, then a friend of mine signed. And we did a VERY beautiful site (www.electriconland.com) and the site was a success, many websites linked to it, even iconfactory and many webdesign sites, mainly pixel-art related.

So, one or tow days after we release our URL, HostRocket have shut us down. The allegated reason was: we were having a lot of "simultaneous traffic", weīre having a HUGE success, but this success DO NOT ****ed with any of our limits (space and bandwidth was ok, bellow of the limit, indeed).

The way they said to us was like that:
"You have not gone over your bandwidth limit, you have had too much simultaneous traffic. Your account is overloading the server and cannot be unsuspended until it is upgraded to a semi-dedicated plan. " (I have saved our "ticket dialog" to proof it).

But wait! If we sign up for a server with a X limit and WE DO NOT overcome this limit, what too much "simultaneous traffic" means? We could have just one visitor after another? Not 2? Or 3? What is a web server for? It isnīt multi-tasking or what?

And, worst, they put a "HostRocket.com - SPAM Policy
Abusing our servers to send unsolicted e-mail will not be tolerated. " message. Nice to our visitors, hu?

Then, since this day I was searching for a good, fair, web host to change my personal site I had with them, īcause I do not want to give my money to someone who do not care about my site.

Today I have signed off with hostrocket, and what they did?

They put a "SPAM Policy" like page as dedfault to my site...

Now Iīm givind hostculture a try, letīs see if this work. At least the people there CARE about their customers... electriconland goes to mediatemple.

Cool site, seems that HR has run off many a popular site before so you're not the only one.

How people still sign up them? I thought: hmmm, their are expensive, this means good service.

Yeah, sure...

People look at their website, cute. Look the prices: hmm, expensive. They have some nice features, like subdomains, etc.

But that "hidden clausule" about "simultaneous traffic" was too much to me.

Letīs see hostculture...

The HostRocket spam policy page is the default page on our servers, when you closed your account it was removed so your domain then pointed to the default page on the server. This is not something done in spite of you or anyone else, it is done as a service to allow anyone getting spam from one of our servers to know where to report it. This is the kind of thing that had you asked us we would have explained to you and had you let us know it was a problem could have corrected for you very easily.

As for your site and server resource usage I don't know the specifics but I do know that we have hundreds of sites that max out their bandwidth usage every month and cause no problems on the server. Our admins are very qualified to determine if your site is causing a problem and are willing to work with you to help solve them if you are willing to do the same. Losing a customer is not any businesses goal and it certainly is not ours..

I do not want any explanation, we tried dialogue through ticket system and seems like some kind of robot was talking to us.

Our site was shut down WITHOUT US EVEN KNOW WHY, no email, no explanation, no "hey, we have a problem with your site, could we think in a solution?"

After you guys shut down the site, the support said: to put your site online you need an expensive server. Even when we ask to put just a plain html page telling to our public what was happening, you guys do not allow us to do that!

No one in your "support staff" was able to tell us what was going on, first they said we are making spam, then that you overdue(?) our limit of bandwidth, then you guys came with this "too much simultaneous traffic". I do not want to fight. I come here to tell what happened, thatīs all. And no, I did not saw any "good will" to solve our problem, even after 2 days offline.

In mediatemple, the same site, with the same ammount of traffic, is fine till now. In a multi-site server. What they do? Magic?

Our support system automatically emails you an explaination and opens a free priority ticket for you to help you get faster resolution when your account is suspended, thats the only way our techs are able to suspend an account so if you had a valid email address on file you were notified of the suspension immediatly. I'm not here to argue either, just to clear up what appeared to be some confusion around what that spam page was all about. I'm sorry you we're unhappy with your hosting with us, good luck elsewhere. If the account wasn't already closed I would be able to clear up for you exactly what the problem was but the logs have been removed from the server.

Well, just to close. That was not the case. We do not got any kind of warning. We couldnīt see the page anymore.

The we put a ticket requesting help.

People tell us to send an email to some address and we got a TOS kind reply.

TIll this point we do not even know WHY the account was cancelled.

The spam page was another thing. If use this to accounts canceled by spam, thatīs ok. What is the problem with keep the old page till the DNS propagate correct? It is bad for your business? "My god, he cancelled with us, letīs delete all the stuff NOW".

This is so... ogre-like!

But I do not know. It is your business. Iīm just a customer.

Its usually more of a common practice a person moving an account to not close the old account until they are moved rather than the old place to keep track of the status of the transfer of the site to the new host, however we would have done this for you if you had asked.
