View Full Version : Any IIS FTP Problem?

I have an ADSL connection, and plan to host an FTP site with Windows XP Pro.

I installed only the FTP portion of IIS. I also have tiny personal firewall set up.

I have heard lots of security problem with IIS as a web server, but what about using it purely as a FTP server with firewall? Do you think that is safe? The web-related security issue shouldn't affect just the FTP portion of IIS, right?

Thanks,

Peter

As long as you have all your SPs and Hot Fixes installed, you should be fine.

Thanks. What about the account that the FTP server runs on, can I set it to some non-privilege account, or does it have to run as LocalService(or whatever privileged system account)?

Thanks,

Peter
