Hey,
I know this is a long shot, as ya'll want some money, but currently I can't offer that. I will do the typical, offer you some ad revenue once we get ads on the site. That won't happen till mid May. I need some volunteers to help me on my PCShopper.org website. I just need people to help with marketing, need help with posting deals, and need help moderating the forums. We are very small now, averaging about 90 uniques a day over the past 3 or 4 days, being only open 2 weeks. I am looking to grow it though. There is no incentive at this time, just a good opportunity to get involved if you have some spare time.

Thanks,
John Stille

Here is an explanation of why I think this site will work:

My goal, is this. Other sites have two problems. SlickDeals, Fatwallet, etc... they cover everything. When you look for a good deal they are either covered with ads, or the deals are mixed with deals on clothes, or sheets. Personally, I had to flip through like 5 pages of deals everytime I went. I need a simplification of my search process. I feel that by splitting out a seperate area/site for pc deals would make peoples lives easier. PCShopper will focus on what are considered hot deals, only relating to PC's. We don't want a ton of ads either. If we get big enough, I might place ads to pay for some good hosting, but I never like to see trash on websites. It clutters. It is a central place, unlike the other sites to be concentrated. The only reason people will be looking to come to pcshopper is if they are looking for a new computer, new hard drive, etc... It doesn't make sense to go to a site that makes it very difficult to find the deals you are looking for.

I am not one to care about being able to say, oh I am cool and run a website, no I am trying to fit a niche market here, that is truly lacking. I hope this answers your question.

"If we get big enough, I might place ads to pay for some good hosting"

"offer you some ad revenue once we get ads on the site"

Seems to me you want no ads, but offer potential (future) pay via the same ads you don't want to place? Best of luck, you're up against tough competition.

Hello,

I saw you mention some of the big names like Slickdeals and Fatwallet that "cover everything". However, you're forgetting one of the main players that cover only Tech/Computer deals (it already exists) and that is www.techbargains.com

Yes I agree. They also include TV's, camera's, camcorders, GPS, mp3 players, headphones, etc... and in my mind that just clutters someone looking for pc specific deals. The other thing is it is cluttered with ads, another thing hindering navigation. I agree they are huge, but they don't do it as well as it can be done in my opinion. My main reason for this site.

I understand where you're coming from...trust me, been there :) However, "cluttered with ads" pays for the operating costs of such a web site. Keep in mind that for reliable, steady posting of deal news on a daily basis requires paid staff. Also, hoping that your web site doesn't go down during Thanksgiving (Black Friday) and Christmas sales requires a dedicated server at least which will need to be funded too. The problem is that the minimum amount of ads won't cut it to cover the operating costs :(

Just some friendly advice, let me know if you have any questions! Good luck with your web site.

I just think that better, more strategically placed ads would be better. I agree, thats why I said I will have ads running by mid-May, but I think that they aare not the right ads.
