It is interesting but .tk extension is not that popular.

I just remember my experience with changing ownership for .tk domain name which was really pain and I think I have been trying to change it for more than 3 month.

Why would a particular country's TLD be not admitted to the dmoz or blocked by an ISP?

maybe because its free and so many people used to spam with it.

i remember .cx was free and same things happened till they got banned from some irc networks as *.cx

A good alternative for a free domain could be uni.cc at www.uni.cc
But it's only a 2ndLevel ccTLD.

In my opinion the .com and .net are much more professional :)

Why would a particular country's TLD be not admitted to the dmoz

because dmoz takes the .tk as domains that redirect, and they want to have registered the real domains of the sites (even if it's a geocities.com/hjgashgdasd/hjskadgasd/hjgsdhasgd/goodsite.html )

Can't you turn off .tk ads?
the cost of the domain is $9.95

but.. for that price.. you can get a .com .net .anyothergoodtopleveldomains
