OK, for better or worse, I bought two .tv domains today. I did so mainly to keep them out of the hands of competitors. So many times I almost bought a .com URL to see it go to someone else before I pulled the trigger.
Regardless of what you think of .tv domains, I'm wondering if anyone else here might have one and where they are hosting it.
Alabanza-sourced hosts don't support .tv accounts and I'm beginning to wonder who does that is cheap and reliable. Not that I have any major plans to develop these names as of yet, but I would like to put up my own customized webpage on each.
For what it's worth, I may have found a flaw at the http://www.tv registration site. Initial registrations are supposed to be for two years, but when I got to the shopping cart's pay screen there was an option to change the number of years you were registering for. Instead of increasing the number of years, I found I could decrease it to 1 year, which I did. The system let me complete the transaction, too. And I only got charged for one year, too. My email confirmation says I only registered my domains for one year. But my account at http://www.tv says I am registered for two years! If I don't get caught, I call that quite a sale!

I beg to differ. We are an Alabanza host and are hosting .tv domains. It takes a little tweaking, but it can be done without any trouble.

One source of information I use to get a bead on what's going on with the newer domain name extensions is our logs. (Some of our sites have literally thousands of referers.)
So far, across the last million hits, we see exactly two from any of the newer domain extensions, one from a .tv, and one from a .ws.

I had the coolest idea for websites that really suck based on the .TV idea.
What about the following extensions:
.duh?
.dum? (I think both are pretty self-explanatory)
.bs? (the Truth in Advertising extension)
.dud? (The big website that never really was)
.abd? (for all of those websites that take the time and the effort to misspell every third word and forget any and all punctuation)
.ass? (nuff zed)
and my personal favourite...
.mud (the reputation of anyone who has a site bad enough to fall into one of the earlier classifications)?

Where did you hear that from??!!
We can host any domain name! Even ones that don't exist yet! We can bind an IP number to anything we want!

There is no tweaking at all?! I wish people would know what they're talking about!
You do the exact same thing to host a .com than you do to host a .tv

Guess it was my error in thinking. These new domains like .tv create a lot of confusion. Maybe since a lot of Alabanza companies use BulkRegister.com for domain registrations and they only accept the .com, .net., and .org domains, that's why I got the impression hosting .tv domains required something special.
Does this mean I can host a .tv domain anywhere then?

Yes, you can get your .tv domain hosted anywhere you want.
Your right about most of us only registering .com .net .org, that's because .tv does not offer us any partnership programs worth signing up for, we recently partnered with .ws, and we will partner with as many as possible, but a bunch more TLD's are popping up, it's hard to partner with all of them, especially since some of them won't let you partner with others if you sign up with them.
