I need a host for a small to medium sized gaming site and want to know if 1 shared hosting account will be enough for a site, a forum, and some downloadable files.

Look at http://www.s31net.com or http://www.sector31.com as they are gaming hosts.

COMMENTS: I'll say we're in the "small to medium" sized category...I was on one of their older servers up until last month and I had numerous problems with downtime, I have since switched to one of their newer servers and it has been ok.

I encountered another problem and had my site shut of because I had "too many simuntaneous users on" and was told I would probably need to upgrade to a semi-dedicated account, even though I am no where near space or bandwidth quota.

For most gaming sites, unless its just a squad site, the forums are usually busy, and in reading the small print my host does not allow you to have more then 30 users on vbulletin at a time...hence why I'm here looking for another.

So if you're running a small squad site, I'd say go with it, they're a great host, plenty of disk space/bandwidth...but if you're going to be running a small-medium tournament site with active forums I would not recommend it.

Never had a downtime as of yet, and they have pretty good support and help you through any problem to arise (haven't had many problems though).

COMMENTS: Hosting the site myself on a local computer. Every now and then our connection goes out... It has ever since AT&T took over Mediaone. Yes, they allow hosting websites as long as we provide the equip, software, etc... Just gotta specify a different hosting port.... :eek: Since I'm building my content, I'm not really worried about its accessability.

COMMENTS: This is a POOR host for a gaming site. If you plan on running a VBulletin forum then this is the WRONG host. My forum usually gets 10-20 people MAX on it and it is Constantly shut down for server resources...if you look at the above info Im not a Big site...i'm small to medium...but I think more on the Small side.

I am here searching for a new host to Host my website. I have had enough of CWIHosting. Read my thoughts and some good Info on CWIHosting.com at this thread.

COMMENTS: In my one year of being with sphosting, I had only 20 minutes of downtime, and this was their upgrade of processor(?) to the 512. They have incredible speed and reliability for a free host, as well as superb support. The only downside is the file size limit, and no php/MySQL. Although this is probably not what you are looking for, just had to add
