Im thinking of opening up a reseller account. but is reselling worth it? will i make a good amount of money?

How much time can you put in to it? If it's a lot then it's worth it but if you want to do it just to earn money on the side then I recommend you find something else to do.

The question is not if you will "make a lot of money". The money that you make is dependent on if you're actually putting effort into it. This is not a "overnight cash cow". You will not make it over night. Most hosts don't even break even until the 3rd month, and that is if they are lucky. Don't get into this just to make money. This is the best advice I can give.

If you are just starting some hosting, a reseller is the place to start. Remember what I said about overnight moneymaker though, because if you try it for that -- you will waste your reputation and money by trying to grow too fast.

I have A LOT of time to put into it. I'm currently pregnant, got nothing to do at home. No use getting a job, ill be giving birth in july. Does a webhosting site have to look REAL professional? my graphic skills are intermediate. not professinal. i see a lot of webhosting sites that have some flash in it. i have flash, but dont know how to use it. so does a webhosting site's layhout have to look PROFESSIONAL?

Well, I've been a reseller since October 2004 and it is a lot of work.
I'm doing pretty well, but that's only because I've put a lot of hours (and sleepless nights!) into it.

How much money you can make will depend on how much effort you put into it.

You will have to:

1) Decide on how much to charge for your product. Best not to charge too much....web hosting is competitive and customers will be loking for the best deal.

2) Build a good looking and easy to navigate site.

3) Don't baffle people with technical jargon! Explain your hosting specs in simple terms. Many customers will be novices, looking for hosting for the first time.

4) Optimize your site for search engines.

5) Promote and advertise.

And that's all for starters.

That depends on your target market. As in many areas of web marketing, a slightly "amateurish" approach appeals more to some consumers then a well polished sales machine.

Good point lifehost. I agree I was coming a bit too strong with my "Absolutely!". However, the "amateurish" part has to be very carefully tuned to the market you're after. I call that a professionally thought out sales process, adapted to the niche you're targeting. :)

(it is a very competive mkt)

There are hundreds(thousands)of nerw host every day,but there are also that many that fold everyday too.

There are zillions of web hosting companies and resellers out there. If you want to make it in this business you need a niche market. Perhaps you could specialize in web hosting for families, for example. Do some research and find out if this ( or whatever niche market you choose) is a viable market. Then write business and marketing plans. Hire someone to help you or go to the library and find some books. If you do it right from the beginning, this could be a very profitable venture for you. Otherwise, it will most likely be one big waste of time.
