View Full Version : hotwire
Iam planning to arrive earlier and enjoy chicago... but I will stay at the Convetion hotel only 3 days. Iam looking for a good and cheap hotel in hotwire.com, but when trying to make reservation they show:
Primary guest must be at least 21 years old at time of check-in.
Iam 20, I guess it wont be possible to make reservation.. right? Is there any other way to find good deals?
regards,
Geraldo
Synthetic 04-12-2005, 01:02 PM I've known people to use Hotwire/Priceline that are under the age of 21, and they've never encountered any problems. It's also quite rare for a hotel to ask for ID, at least in my experience... mostly all they want is a photocopy of your credit card to cover any incidentals.
So I'm sure you'll be fine, but if you want to be really safe then you could somehow try figuring which hotel it is they're showing and then call them to confirm. Try going to http://www.biddingfortravel.com for help.
DaWiseMouse 04-12-2005, 04:27 PM You may unfortunatly want to call to try to make the reservation, ID is more likely to be asked for now due to all the security concerns going on nowadays.. likely if you handle it like an adult most wont question anything, also you dont have to tell them how old you are, kind of forces there hand when you get there if they actually do look at the ID for your age.. most look moreso to see if you are who you say you are and that your name matches the CC being used.. lionfire 04-13-2005, 11:16 PM I have not had any issues with the ID at any hotel I have ever stayed in. I am 20 myself. Generally I just show my credit card plus ID and am on my way.
I have stayed at the Hyatt, Westin and several other high and low profile hotels that require 21+ in order to get in without any issue.
If they do give you an issue, just negotiate with them. As long as you dont break anything though you should be ok ;)
MattF 04-14-2005, 04:46 AM I was 20 in Vegas (yeah I know bad idea) two years ago and hotel was in my name/card etc, the hotel rules were no one under the age of 21. Hotel never asked for ID, just scanned credit card, although the bar was sometimes 50/50
I doubt you'll have a problem. Just make sure you're not playing on the gameboy in the queue and the signature matches that on the back on your card (its weird how people regularly change their signature for no reason).
daveman 04-14-2005, 02:02 PM Never had an issue with it.
lionfire 04-15-2005, 02:09 AM yeah if you look the part you usually can be OK with bars and hotels and such. I look like im in my mid 20s unfortunately, heh
KarlZimmer 04-15-2005, 02:18 PM Matt, you reminded me.. just thought I'd add, going to Vegas a week after your 21st birthday is a great idea, I enjoyed it... :-)
Wasn't overly expensive either, the MGMGrand was reasonable and I didn't lose TOO much gambling. Didn't really spend any money on other entertainment though. I'd guess you could drop a good sum on that stuff... Only thing I would have wanted to see though was Blue Man Group, and they're at least $25 cheaper here in Chicago, depending on the ticket, up to $50 cheaper.
