the links on the header are links to .php files and in IE they work fine. In navigator and firefox they try to point to html files.

I can fix it by setting up html files for each .php and just using meta tag to redirect to the .php but I shouldnt have to lol, there should be some way to make it work...

ok, this must really be a template header. How did you input these urls into ths movie? I am thinking that its just defaulting to the html instead of php. I would have a look at how the movie actionscript is written, that will fix your problem.
