hosting services at:
worldcom.com
or
Bell Canada?
I am still walking funny from being screwed by webhosting.com but need to get my site up and running again these two floated to the surface.
Still haven't heard a word from webhosting.com (see my other post below).
Tanks!

From webhosting.com's about page:
"The WebHosting.Com portfolio of hosting products and services is brought to you by SBC Communications Inc., a global communications leader. Through its subsidiaries' trusted brands -- Southwestern Bell, Ameritech, Pacific Bell, Nevada Bell, SNET,
SBC Telecom, and Sterling Commerce Inc. -- and world-class network, SBC and its affiliated companies provide a full range of..."
This kind of gives me the feeling that they are very related to the Bell companies. At any rate, I would stay away from hosts run by the big phone companies. Amazingly, they tend to actually provide some of the worst service that I have seen (I was screwed over by webhosting.com myself a few years ago... Do a search here if you don't believe me).
When choosing a new host, I recommend:
1. Paying monthly at first -- you don't want to take the risk of paying yearly, and being screwed again
2. Ask on WHT
3. Do a search on Google for "hostname AND sucks"
I'm sure others can make more suggestions which I missed. :)

Avara, what you said about teleco companies so so true.
Down here in Oz we have our dear old friend telstra, service level goes down, prices go up!
I have a good friend that works in there call centre that informs me that every day for the past year there has ben an outage of there dsl service!
Did i mention they cap trasfer at 3 gigs! 3 gigs! shocking!
And we also have Optus@Home (just the last part of the '@home' should be a warning :)) They are looking good everything going well with there cable till i heard that in there plans they are going to be offering also three gigs traffic for free then charge for it, with a price increase!
The prices will be so high soon, that people would be forced to go back to dual dial up LOL!

I thought we were unlucky in the UK with the likes of BT (http://bt.com) and NTL (http://ntlworld.com) Funnily enough we have NTLworld (http://ntlworld.com) and NTHellworld (http://nthellworld.com)
Though I think for £10/m for 512k is not so bad.
Sorry for making this OT
