ive only heard good things about cyberwings except 1 thing thats bad in my opinion, after you sign up for them and pay you have to wait 3-5 days to get your account activated.

I just got out of a chat on their support site... wanted to see if there really was support.... not that it matters......

Reseller plan: 55 gigs b/w $38.00/month

No uptime guarantee
our uptime and equipment is good, but we do not offer a guarantee

So my server could be down for a week?
yes, it could happen

If I use the full 55 gigs will you kick me for being a resource hog?no

No telnet, no ssh, no ssl.
not at this time

Longest downtime?
2 hrs

24/7 support?
yes

Somehow...for these prices...no friggin way I can believe this!
The no uptime guarantee in itself would make me run away...put my customers on this? Are you kidding?

I am Shawn, the CEO of Cyberwings and we DO offer an uptime guarantee of 98%... I'm most likely going to change that to 99% since our uptime has been so good, I feel much more comfortable guranteeing even more uptime now. Whomever told you that in our chat was mistaken, as it is clearly noted right on our Main Page about our 98% uptime guarantee.

Anyhow, please feel free to ask around about us, I think you'll find we have a pretty supportive community of customers.

Shawn

I just signed up, and though my account is taking a while to set up, I haven't had any headaches with contacting them and finding out what is going on.

There were some SPAM problems, and that was immediately conveyed to me. I don't mind waiting, and for a price like this I'm quite pleased with the level of support, it surpasses even that of my $300/year hosting (that I soon will have canceled).

Thanks to Shawn and the CW staff, hopefully I'll be on my way to set up my site soon *hint hint eh Shawn* :)

Just because it looks unreal, it doesnt mean it is unreal.
Despite being a skeptic, i must say the my investigations into Cyberwings brought me nothing but very happy customers. Over the past few months...i have yet to meet an unsatisfied customer.

I have an account with CyberWings.com and have been 100% completely satisfied. Their uptime rivals that of AffordableHost.com (AMAZING Uptime), and their support has been just as responsive as VenturesOnline (AMAZING Support). I think for the price is an absoutely amazing package.

For $4.00 there is no reason why you shouldnt just sign up and see how the service is. I dont even use my space, but have uptime monitors running that show great uptime, and have submitted some questions to support that have been answered immegiately. For $4 I would be crazy to go anywhere else.

Ok a little background ... my comments about hosting companies can be found by searching for my name. I am usually brutally honest and go out of my way to point out the positives without just negatives.

I have been with Cyberwings since they started their reseller accounts. My primary use is housing domains that I have bought and for domain development. I am on their first plesk server and have one production site on their box. I have a total of 25 other domains with them in various stages of development. I do not have external customers yet, but will when the sites are developed.

Since I have been with Cyberwings from the beginning I can attest to the fact that their support is extremely responsive. Typically Shawn, the owner, goes without sleep for days ... or so it seems. Here are a few things I have had to deal with support on:

1) Creation of MYSQL Databases: I was having trouble creating MYSQL databases. I posted a comment in the support forums and within ten minutes my question was answered.
2) Wrong time on servers: This was an idiotic request on my part. I wasn't reading my logs properly and thought the time was off. It showed how gentle the support can be when a customer is an idiot. They didn't jump down my throat. :-)
3) Plesk Control Panel Learning Curve: Ok, I hate Plesk. Shawn knew that and assigned someone to work with me to get me up to speed. Although I didn't avail myself of the offer, it really showed me he's concerned about customer satisfaction.
4) HTACCESS Changes: This was the only sticky problem. I needed to know how to change the .HTACCESS without telnet access. We went through a couple of rounds where it seemed we were speaking in different languages, but we worked through it.
5) PostNuke Installation: A message in the support area had my answer in 30 minutes.

From a support standpoint Cyberwings is efficient, quick and communicative.

There are two things I would be remiss to not mention if you're considering Cyberwing. Remember, these are my opinions:

1) You're getting in on the ground floor. Cyberwing is relatively new at reseller hosting and they are still growing. This leads to changes in direction and plans from time to time. While they always have the reseller interest at heart, it gets a little confusing sometimes. They are there to explain everything in terms anyone can understand.
2) Being new still means there is a learning curve on their end. Recently they had issues with spammers using their SMTP services to send spam. While SMTP services are back, the process to get there was a little confusing. This was the only time I have seen Cyberwings waver from their commitment to resellers. This was due to the fact that their upstream provider was threatening to pull the plug on them. You can read more about it at

http://forums.cyberwings.com/showthread.php?threadid=682

So, bottom line ... they have reliable service, they have a dedicated support team and their users are loyal and supportive. The only negatives is that sometimes they don't think their new direction(s) out enough before notifying the resellers.

They are a good choice and one I hope succeeds in their efforts.

I've been with Cyberwings for ages, and I love them! I rarely need support, but when I did need it (once) I emailed Shawn and we managed to solve my problem. His responses were so quick; it was like an instant message convo! (Ok, I'm exaggerating a bit, but not by much!)

I'm also a happy customer of CW. The reliability and connection speed is very good and its support is quick and efficient. I also thought sometimes Shawn doesn't sleep for days. :)
On the other hand, if you are hosting big, very active, and mission critical web sites, I'd rather not host with CW at least for now. I got the impression that CW is making changes too quickly without early enough notice to customers. Most of time, those changes were made in favor of customers, but like last SMTP issue, sometimes it can frustrate them.
Don't write off CW name from your shopping list because of its low price. It offers hosting as good as or better than many other quality hosting companies. Try it.

Managed Hosting Harmony™ from only $195 per month!
YIPES! That's a bit expensive...

If you ask me, Cyberwings prove that you don't get what you pay for with other companies.

I am a happy customer of Cyberwings.
Their uptime has been outstanding. Their support really is fast and responsive. They hands down offer the best bang for your buck.
Their low price still has me skeptical (even after 5 months of good service), but they are so friendly and responsive that I would easliy host any small client on their network. Hell, my company's homepage is on their network...

It is always up and I always get my email.
Great job Shawn (the CEO guy)
I wish you great success.

I'm another happy customer.

I can see why people are skeptical. However, you'll be pleasantly amazed by their features, support, and price

Another Happy Cyberwings customer / Reseller.

I can confirm repeat the good things mentioned above, but I'll also add one extra thing.

When there is a problem, Shawn tells us straight away!!

There was a problem with a user that abused the smtp mail server.

Shawn didn't wait for his clients to contact him, to find out what happened, he contacted his clients straight away and kept us informed. A lot of companies would keep quiet and treat you like mushrooms! How many times has an ISP told you to check your modem driver while there network had router problems??????

Anyway DrChao's who's to say that the person you spoke to wasn't just another user. It is an open irc chat room, for anyone to ask questions and you may get responses from another user.

Seems odd that all those extolling the virtues of CW are newbies, or is just my suspicious mind

Your suspicious mind, Elvis. :-)

I posted a link to this thread in the Cybwerwings customer forum letting people know that I posted a review of Cyberwings.

People are coming over, reading it and posting.

It's a good thing when customers like a service enough to take the time to register and then post. Usually only people with bad experiences or negative attitudes will do that.

What? Telnet I can understand, but how can you do any serious work without secure shell access?

Don't know. I haven't come across a time when I have needed it.

What do you use it for? Am I missing a great feature? :-)

So you download software from websites to your PC, unzip it, upload with FTP and set the permissions of each file?

With shell access you can WGET files directly onto your server from the source website, unzip (or untar), set the permissions of whole directories of files with one command, delete/copy/move files...

I see what you mean now. Yes, I do the FTP deal. Is the reasoning behind doing it using telnet one of speed or ease?

Luckily, my sites don't use many CGI programs, so once they are set up I am good to go.

Even with SSH, it is considered a security risk, that's why we do not offer it. We will be implementing a full Virtual Server system shortly where we WILL offer it :)

And even then, isn't it still possible for a hacker to bring down the whole box even though you have the Virtual Partitions up etc?
